The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

Despite my initial concerns over not gelling with it, I've done nothing but shoot with the X100F since January, but last Saturday I put it down and dusted off the X-T20 and 16mm f2.8 for a walk around the city...

I also took the 27mm f2.8, but as usual, took a couple of photos with it but didn't like the results, I love the size of the lens, but I just can't get any decent results out of it, really awkward focal length, seriously considering getting rid.

Nice view where I working today. Jpeg sooc with a cyan/blue tweak.
Not had much chance to use 'Vibrant Arizona'. Think it's been on my camera for 12 months and this is the second time using it.
It's never sunny!
This recipe would be great at a fairground or a seaside town.

Does suit this scene very well imo ;)

I had an idea for dark field lighting. So had a little play ;)

Not my type of work, but I like it, nice one :)

I like how the clouds look! My first thought when I saw the photo was Wes Anderson :)
very Asteroid City
looks a bit mushy scaled down to 1024 to upload it.

Think I used it in Whitby last year, yes it was actually sunny!!

I'm off next week, hope we have a few sunny days. May risk a trip to the seaside and give it a proper go.

I just searched for it and saw that it was inspired by Asteroid City. I might try it on my X-T4 and see how it works in Aberdeen next week, depending on the weather :)

It comes sooc pretty close to the colours but if you look on FujiXWeekly and scroll down the page, there’s a setting for adjusting the cyan and blue. It just makes it a bit more turquoise.

I was lucky enough to be able to add a safari onto a business trip to Tanzania, so here are a few examples. All with Fuji X-T2 and a 100-400 lens

I've approximately 1,995 other shots from four days of safari so more might follow!

I love all of them, but especially the elephant!

Just a few from a recent trip to Greece. Some using the Reggies Portra recipe and some using a custom recipe.

I used the X-M5 and was very pleased with the results, but frustrated with the lack of viewfinder which meant some of the angles could have been better.

All shots SOOC except some crops.

I haven't done much landscape stuff recently, but took a few shots while at Avebury Stone Circle last week.... Mono seemed to work better than colour on these. All done in LR, using Acros+G and a slight boost on contrast.

Went to check out a XT5 in my local LCE, £999. It's been there for about 2 weeks now.

For that price, it usually get sold quick, but this one is quite worn, very well used. It doesn't appeared to have been dropped (no dents), but every corner is scuffed. About 30k shutter count, the store clerk told me it was owned by a studio photographer. The scuff at the top was from the flash being put on and off.

On paper, none of that bothers me. A well-worn camera is fine, I bought my Sony A7R3 well worth but I paid like £650 for it.....£999 for a similarly worn T5....I couldn't do it.

Yeah I'd rather pay another 200 or so for an "as new" one, like I managed to get from them. (y)

The amount of time I waited to not get people in the shot.......
Had the same issue at RHS Wisley a few months ago. Probably the most popular exhibit at that time was the Wisteria walk, always busy. A couple of us had waited until it was almost clear, quite obvious what we were doing.
Then the couple in the picture just walked straight past us.

I'm looking to extend my focal range beyond 55mm. It seems the obvious solutions is the Fuji XF50-140mm F2.8. I don't see anything similar to compare from Sigma or Tamron. Am I missing any third party manufacturers? Is there likely to be another lens coming soon? Anything else I should consider?

Do you need F/2.8? If a slower lens would do there is the XF 55-200 or XF 70-300 (or if you didn’t want to spend much, the XC 50-230 isn’t bad).
There’s another Fuji lens which goes from 18mm up to somewhere over 100mm, but I can’t remember exactly what it is, and I haven’t seen or read anything about it.

The lighter weight and extra zoom of those would be nice. Though the bokeh seems to have issues though looking at the DPReviews. Seems like the 70 - 300 is the better bet all round from what I can see.

The 50 - 140 is an amazing lens, but rather heavy.
The 70-300 is pretty good too, way lighter but obviously slower, mine is one of my favourite lenses, although my 50-140 is essential for weddings and similar situations.
It all depends on what you actually need.
As @skullfunkerry says, the 55-200 is a good alternative but mine felt less well built than the 70-300, and neither are as sharp as the 50-140, nor as heavy..

I've got the 27mm on my X-T5 and have loved it so far.
However I had a work trip to Liverpool last week so took the camera and was frustrated by the amount of stepping back I had to do to capture the full size of some of the awesome architecture around the docks.
I'm hoping the new pancake 23mm with the X-E5 will help with this...

Just had a look at Amazon Prime day.
The Viltrox Air range seem to have about £30 off the lenses
25mm is £132 instead of £165 on the Viltrox site
I have two Viltrox Air lenses, they're excellent. Can recommend :)
