The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

Every year, as regular as clockwork these little self-setters are the first new growth in our garden, springing up through the grass. By tomorrow they will be gone:

Does anyone know how much a lens service will cost from Fuji or a is there a list of costing online somewhere? Think my 16-55 may need recalibrating as it sometimes misses focus as in nothing in shot is in focus! Doesn't appear to be camera shake. Xt5 with ibis and images in good light = good shutter speeds. Doesn't happen all the time maybe one in 15 shots.
Many thanks :)

180 of your earth pounds

I had this a few years ago with the original XF16-55mm F2.8 and an X-H1 - it would sometimes completely miss focus but only at the wide end of the lens - again like you it didn't happen all the time just 1 in x shots - it was irratating but I just lived with it - I actually assumed that it was the camera as it didn't happen with my other X-series bodies - but it could have been the lens, and perhaps it only did it with IBIS sensors???

Will be taking the Xt5 out with a prime attached on monday to see if the issue raises it's head if so then it may be the camera. Tested the 16-55 on my Xt4 and did get some out of focus but cannot rule out user error. Sort of stands out that there is nothing in focus on the missed shots with no signs of camera shake just a very slightly out of focus image that you know doesn't quite look right till you zoom in.
Thanks for the price list :)

I'm the proud owner of a new X-T5, having traded in my previous X-T3 (Took a lot of soul searching as it still was an excellent camera with superb image quality).

Just interested to hear peoples' thoughts on the use of Uncompressed v Lossless compressed. What I've read on 'tinternet about Lossless Compressed is the difference is barely distinguishable for a huge saving in image size, but cost of storage is so cheap these days, why not get the full capability of your camera?

Any and all opinions much appreciated,

Pete

I just go uncompressed. Cards are big enough to deal with the amount I shoot.

I shoot compressed on both the Fuji and Sony kit.

Fuji compression is a lossless compression (like using WinZip) - the only potential disadvantage is not all RAW file readers will read the compressed version - most will.

You need to shoot more :ROFLMAO:

That's interesting Mr Perceptive, thanks,

Pete

I shoot compressed if I am in one of the burst modes, e.g. if I am shooting sports, but if I am doing landscapes etc I'll leave it uncompressed. On the X-H2S you can have compression of raw files as one of the parameters that changes o the 7 presets, which make changing it easy.

Good idea Lewis, change with circumstances.

Pete.

A different way of shooting cars for me. I usually much prefer the A7Riii at 85/1.8 but although this local meet is good, it's very tight for space for what I like. So I had to adapt & overcome with the X100f :ROFLMAO:

For comparison, this first image is my weekend baby (at a different meet) and how I like to shoot cars.....

I like the different angles/ details.

What are your thoughts on the MST Mk1's? I like 'em, but bloody expensive.

Thanks you :)

The MST "Escorts" are nice (but not to my taste with the body style) and do look well built and to a good spec too. And yes, way to expensive for the average person...... But, still a lot cheaper than the newly announced Boreham Motorworks evolution of the Escort is ;) They start at £295,000 for base spec......

Bloody hell, that's expensive...
I prefer the body style without the fat rally arches.

Same. I much prefer just the front Mexico flares as I have on mine.

I can think of much better things to spend over £300k on. I can also think of better things to spend the £110k ish on that the MST's are too :ROFLMAO: Especially if the actual usage mine gets is anything to go by.

Yeah, I guess that's the price of hand built. Silly money though.

I passed through Blackfriars station on Sunday and the sunset view of the City of London was spectacular. I went back today as the forecast was decent, but it wasn't a patch on the weekend's show. This was the best I managed:

1.
Tate I by Ian, on Flickr

And while I was killing time I took these, all of or around the Tate Modern

2.
Tate IV by Ian, on Flickr

3.
Tate III by Ian, on Flickr

4.
Tate V by Ian, on Flickr

5.
Tate II by Ian, on Flickr

All with an X-T2 and the 18-55mm kit lens. Thanks for looking
