The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

@NickTB TBH theres not a hell of a lot of difference besides what Ive mentioned, OOF and colour cast is very similar ignoring the obvious in terms of OOF at given focal length. Consistency is good.

I've been enjoying the 85mm too, also mostly for people but keep meaning to give other types of image using it. Haven't managed to shift the XC35 yet, was going to try the 33mm but I'm not sad about keeping the 35F2 either. Optically it is a little cracker, just built like a cheap toy

A very regal pose makes for a very majestic image.

This is dangerous seeing output files for the V 33mm.....it makes me want!

Ha ha, this cat thinks its the queen. Only trusts 1 in the family, I was lucky to get that close, safer with a long zoom tbh.

The 33 is identical to the 23 if that helps.

Yeah thinking that keeping the 35mm and maybe get the 23mm to compliment is a better idea. Will be a few weeks though, got a confirmation next week [good chance to get nice people pics] and the kids are back to school [unless that changes] the week after. I've been a bit shell shocked at the price of their uniforms this year, both changing schools.

Ouch, dont take the tags off mate!!

Very nice. Solid B&W processing too. Like.

Thanks, its nice to contribute, not the stuff I want to show off but it helps me place more consideration into other forms, especially while were in lockdown. Always learning/trying/improving :)

I know, it's a joke over here atm, nobody is certain if schools will open or for how long and it's less than 2 weeks for them to return. Stressful times for parents and the kids

100%, its s***, not just for you folk.

Haven't kept up with how it's panning out in the UK but the government here are a complete clown fiesta, they're changing the rules by the day.

Really looking for people, but finding things... bear with me people, trying to find imaginative things in the mundane.

Smiley robot... little fish.

I rarely shoot people tbh, apart from family shots and that's just for memories not for my personal photography pleasure. I prefer shooting random things :)

Having to pull it out 90 degrees, swivel 180 then push it further down (and vice versa) vs flip out 45 degrees and then push back when done. I'm sure it's great if you vlog but it's not for me. Also of you want to use it in landscape orientation to hold the camera low then the screen is where your left hand would like to be to cradle the camera.

On the other hand, the shutter noise makes me want to use it continuously so it's swings and roundabouts!

Just keep it folded in or facing out and flat. I never thought I could hate anything as much as the screen on mine. I went years with no screen, then to fixed screens. Like the camera but the screen makes me want to get rid. It's a bit flimsy compared to other flippys too.

I am trying to live with it. I'm training my mind to block the flippy foldy bendy twisty screen. I've not perfected it yet because it still really really really annoys the s*** out of me.

Any recommendations for a backpack. I have an old Lowe Pro Mini trekker at present which is big enough but I can’t fix my tripod to it when I’m out and about.

Any suggestions. I tried a Peak Design Everyday 20l but the design is far too form over function with all your kit just rolling around in it.

I tend to use my ThinkTank Streetwalker.

I can get one body with 10-24 mounted, 50-140, and 35 f1.4 along with my Lee filter holder and Big Stopper. Tripod goes in one of the side pockets and secured by a strap at the top. It's really versatile as I can get a body with the 100-400 & 1.4TC attached if I'm out birding, or I can get the 35, 10-24 and my flash gear in as well.

https://www.thinktankphoto.com/collections/streetwalker-series/products/streetwalker-v2. I have the old version, this one is even better.

I really missed it when my lad "borrowed" it, but he's now got my old Lowepro sling.

Here's another from a local woodland (I'm starting to quite enjoy woodland photography), as before i'd welcome any constructive feedback. Handheld (hence the high ISO).

I use a Tamrac Anvil Slim - Differenet sizes are available https://www.tamrac.com/collections/backpacks

But a lot of time I use a proper lightweight hiking rucksack and use Tenba BYOB inserts to carry the kit in. https://www.tenba.com/en/products/accessories-byob/byob-camera-inserts

What do you want to carry?

I've got the peak 20l and it's okay for days out with a flask, food and the v/f but it's a bit useless as a dedicated camera pack. Zips are useless and swinging round to open is not as convenient as they make out.

Bought a lowepro whistler (replaced a flipside) for the t4 and a long days kit but only used it once, it'll do for my overnight camping excursions but it's massive. It sticks out about 2ft, it's like having a car on my back!

One of the best backpacks I've got is the vanguard veo select 49. It holds my t4 and v plus extras and the top has a compartment for clothing or food etc. Mine holds the camera kit plus a drinks flask, food flask, packable jacket etc.. It's good for a day hike in the mountains.

Great shot with darkness for a moody shot. I might add some warmth to bring out a little more colour, but like the composition and shot

New Fuji user. Keep seeing you people with new Viltrox lens and drullingover them, can I ask who is this guy selling them.

I've got a little Lowepro Tahoe
Fits nice for the Fuji kit imo. Not too big, and there's a nice compartment for bits n bobs.
Two mesh side pockets and side straps for tripod

Cheers, I might try to warm it a bit and see how it looks

Bought one a couple of weeks ago and took it on holiday, great little bag, holds a body + largish zoom lens plus 2 more lenses plus bits and bobs and an iPad.

"Cracking" landscape/wild life style Fujigraph Jason, liking everything about it.

George.
Yes I have Jason and never looked back, I also use the iPad version which is also very good. Once you get PS etc out of your mind and concentrate on working the Affinity way you'll find it can do virtually the same as PS and with some things even more. I run my version on a 2019 MacBook Pro with an i9 processor & 16gb of ram without any problems whatsoever.

George.

Cheers George.

My iMac only has 8gb and its one of those that you have to dismantle to add extra memory, a pita in other words.:p

The specs for Affinity only state 2gb anyway so I hope I’ll manage. It really can’t be any worse than PS.

I best get the trial version downloaded!

I’ve got a Lowepro Flipside Trek. Carries all my Fuji stuff and filters snuggly in the camera compartment and has other pouches and compartments to keep food etc away from your camera stuff. I strap my tripod on the side of the bag. The weather cover is big enough to go over the bag and the tripod if needed.

If you do a search on Facebook marketplace for Viltrox you should get a hit for someone called Lee Chadwick who is selling them.
