The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

One of the ex pro batteries I use in my X-H1 has suddenly died - are they still the ones most people use, and if not, what do you recommend ?
I have seen these which are so cheap and do have a usb charger which could be of use but it's certainly not an essential.

Two “Cracking” Fujigraphs Paul, really liking the PP presentation on these.

George.

Thank you, George
Definately going to return sans family, to get more pix. From what I saw today, it`ll look great dressed in autumn colours. The grounds are massive.

First day back in the hills (since breaking my ankle in January followed by lockdown) and back to some Welsh Slate Quarries!!! Went with a friend, mainly a film day, I shot two rolls on the GSW690III and he shot 3 rolls on a Mamiya RB67 (rather him than me lugging that about!!). Was a fantastic day, real moody Welsh weather, we were battered by frequent heavy showers, driving winds, and the base level at Rhosydd was often in cloud!!! Took a few snaps on my posh Lightmeter (aka X100F)

Good to see you're back to the quarries, David!

One from a few weeks back. An early alarm call and a dark o’clock slog up a local hill. Happily the Met Office didn’t let me down this time. They came good with the previous evening‘s forecast of valley fog at sunrise.

Beautiful light. Love it

Well my Viltrox 85mm has arrived via the guy on Facebook

Need to slap it on and point it at something worthy

Its a big lump of lens ( I was walking around with the 27 on my XT30 the other day, but at the price it was worth a go just for portraits and stuff

"Cracking" Fujigraph Jason, nothing more to be said.

George.

Fuji lenses have been given the once over by me with a BABY WIPE and DO NOT smell of smoke at all. So tomorrow I will take some images and put them up for sale.
You crack me up Dave, here we go again ;)
You going to sell your X100V ? Been waiting for you to put it in the classifieds.

XF50mm f2 is in the list with the rest ;)

Cracking lens, but quite liking the Viltrox 85mm atm. Anyone not fond of the longer FL should seriously consider that 50mm though, said to be one of their sharpest - possibly only behind the 90mm and 80mm

Got to agree on the sharpness being up or just behind the 90 & 80.

I've not used either of those but I know the 50mm is sharper than any of the 35mm offerings, sharper than the 16 1.4 and 16-55 also [at 2.8], but of course they all serve different purposes. If it is sharpness and some nice subject seperation without going too long that you're after, the 50 is ideal

I might have a word on the phone first thing to Wex saying what Fuji lot I`d like to trade and go from there as might get a better deal.

Yeah you might be surprised, it'll save a lot of hassle too. Ask them if they have any ongoing trade in deals, might sneak an extra % out of them - no harm trying ;)

I did have a couple of PMs from two great Fuji members saying the same thing.

Love the fifty, cant wait to try the 85 against it

You going to try the Viltrox 85? also a cracking lens, can't say it's as sharp as the 50, they might be close around F4, but it is easier to seperate your subject - portraiture for example. The 50mm gets closer, but FL wins out in this case. It's sharp enough wide open if you're not pixel peeping but I prefer it at F2 - 2.8, it really gets going there

Jessops are worth a quick call as well. Their trade-in prices are a bit unpredictable but no harm in asking. When I traded in my Nikon stuff last year they gave a lot more than other places - 20% more on some items. I’ve also had some quite low quotes of them as well. I guess it depends on their used stock levels at the time.
