The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

Bloody hell they ain't cheap!

My local John Lewis had some at half price the other day, but I'm afraid I come from the school of 'if I have expensive kit, I'm prepared to pay for a decent bag to hold it', its a bit like are you happy putting 2K's worth of camera kit on a cheapo tripod??

BTW I don't actually have any Millican bags, just some Billinghams and a Tamrac rucksack.

Another from last weekend. Arriving at Manorbier, two things were abundantly clear. One, this was the most interesting light I'd had all day. Two, it probably wouldn't last long. So I took this picture on arrival as a bit of insurance. Just as well I did, because it's probably my favourite of the afternoon.

I'd generally agree, and normally use an ONA Bowery for my kit but need something to stuff into a back pack for Glen Coe next week (ie it'll likely be used for a few days a year, if that).

50-140mm
23mm 1.4
56mm 1.2 apd

Pretty close to it
All 3 are superb :)
wondering if I should get the 56mm f1.2 apd as a replacement for my 56mm f1.2 that UKmail delivery carrier has managed to lose :(

Looking forward to trying it out - possibly tomorrow. One thing to note is that only contrast af is supported.

George.

a) Well captured! Works well in B+W
b) I want one of those bubble machines!
c) Are you back to using an X-T1 for fun, or are you catching up with older images? Or do you use an X-T1 for fun anyway?

Thank you kindly Sir, really appreciate your comments.(y)

"Re your questions :- This particular shot was taken before the X-T2 came out, but I still have and use my own X-T1 cameras and have no intention of outing them. Personally I still think they were and still are an excellent bit of kit and for me they still feel just right in the hand as do the X-T2 units. I really do love the Fuji-X kit"

I'm sure it's perfectly capable. But as a basic analogy, would you swap your a7 back for your old 5D? ;)

No, but the reason I moved to mirrorless wasn't much to do with image quality but because I was never happy with big fat bloated DSLR's and lenses.

I grew up with 35mm film and when I went digital I couldn't get the same small and light form factor until mirrorless came along. As for actual quality I was happy with my 20D's output and kept it for over 7 years and really only went to the 5D to use the Sigma 50 and 85mm f1.4's and 12-24mm at their intended focal lengths, again that move was not really for reasons of image quality. Actually there's another reason I wouldn't go back to DSLR's now, I like using old manual lenses and they're just not practical on DSLR's. If it wasn't for the manual lenses I might have considered just having MFT or an APS-C system.

I didn't mention iq though. My reasons for changing were also size and bulk. But the D300 reminded me of the other disadvantages e.g. AF fine tune. Glad I'm all mirrorless these days :)

Ok, I have the X-T10 in my hands. Damn it's small, reminds me of a MFT camera! First impressions are that it is great looking but too small for my hands and that the X-E2 is a better fit. Will run them both for a bit first though before making a decision.

I am still hoping it might work for me as an X-T20 is much more palatable than an X-T2 price wise :D

When I had an xt10 previously I bought a £30 hand grip for it. Made a big difference in comfort.

Thats lovely George, the slumping shoulders and the few bubbles coming out of his machine tells the story perfectly.

Very nice David a lovely lead in line with the path and just agree with what been said about grass and mono shots.

It really does say "bored". Especially with one hand in his pocket.

That's what I thought when I opened my X-T20 Box even though I have had the X-T10 before!! Probably something to do with previously having the XT1 and XT2, the camera came with the free Fuji half Case and when I put this on it added a bit of weight and more grip so was better.

Wow, very kind of you. Thanks! It was kind of impromptu, was just walking past and saw it mostly in shade, with a few flowers hit by sunlight... Figured it'd look good since exposing for the flower would darken and seperate the subject and background.
Then fluked a composition I liked with the sort of S shape of the branch... Had to twist a little to accentuate it, but it looks natural enough... ;)
18-55mm with extension tube/s?
Yes indeedy. Just cheapies from amazon, but worth their weight in gold!

That's very nice Sir, great comp', spot on exposure, with good use of aperture giving nice bokeh.(y)

Really interesting. I have some but have never used them for anything other than extreme close ups. I should really try on this evidence!

Cheers George. It could've been more bokehlicious, but I stopped down a touch to give myself some wiggle room - there was a breeze knocking the branch around... ;)

I used af-c successfully for the first time though, pretty much all keepers, which is the opposite of my past experiences. :)
