The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

There's lots to photograph in Birmingham, starting right there in New Street Station, the Bull Ring, finding an angle on Selfridges that works, the new Library, Brindley Place and the canals... that was one afternoon last month!

No problem @ChrisH
Thanks for that @ChrisR
Don't want to upset the thread police so might ask for ideas in another thread. Unless someone wants to start a meet thread it will be all by PM.

I haven't the wedge :(

If it's for a one off or a couple of days' shooting, how about renting one? IIRC, Stewart at lensesforhire has them in stock. Cheaper than buying!

Oh well m well and truly pi**ed off spent all day sat and today waiting for the return of my lens from Fuji my XF 56mm f1.2 was sent to them last Monday for repair after getting knocked and mount and part barrel separated from aperture ring :(
I phoned Fuji on Friday who confirmed it had been repaired and despatched to me:)
Waited all day Saturday and till post arrived today but no parcel :(
Called Fuji who told me it had been dispatched viaUK mail ? I've never heard of them has anyone else on here ?
Armed with the tracking number I find theUK Mail site I get transferred only to be told they have lost my package !
They asked me how the package was being returned and what size box was pmsl how would I possibly know what packing Fuji had used to return it to me ? As they had a umber of parcels with no labels
So I called Fuji to was asked to hold the line 28 mins later I'm told it was unlikely labelling had come off it would have been packed in a brown box addressed and sealed before going into dispatch sack for collection by U.K. Mail.
Called uk Mail back still no luck !
I told them I need the lens for a studio I have booked for Wednesday night and I needed the lens.
But fear it's just fallen on deaf ears :(:bat:angry is not the word of the moment for me right now.
I fear a lot of buck passing is about to happen and this will drag on !

Sounds an absolute nightmare, sorry to add to it, but I've had nothing but bad experiences with UK Mail, twice they've given packages back to the sender after 'attempting' to deliver it... :(

Round here they seem to sub-contract to Royal Mail. It's a crazy world!

so is there a way to set up wireless tethering to an android tablet? Ive downloaded the fuji control app but that just seems to make you manually download the images off the camera. I want them to be sent as i shoot. Any chance of doing that using the built in wireless as opposed to those wifi sd cards?

I may be wrong...it has been known!
I think there has recently been a firmware upgrade that allows this. But you need some software from Adobe that costs £80 or so. Don't think there's been much take up.

There was indeed a firmware update, and it did indeed couple with an Adobe plugin, that plugin was for lightroom though.
AFAIK there is no tethering to mobile devices.

OK hands up anyone who uses zone focus on their camera! I've just given my wife a Fuji refurbished (basically new) X-T1 and she finds it easiest for the way she shoots. I'm used to using single point AF mode, but can see how zone focus could be useful. Might give it a go next time I'm out on a shoot...

I use zone most of the time, unless I need to really pick at something, then I switch to single.
Edit: I never use wide though.

don't you just love the colour rendition on Fuji's
Sorry best pal, but I never understand that saying. I shoot RAW so play around till I get what I like. Maybe on JPEGs it will make a difference, but I seldom use them!

I agree with Chris. Even using raws. I could never get the colours I wanted, or what my mind saw, out of Olympus raw files whereas it's quite easy to realise my imagination with Fuji. And I'm convinced there's a difference in recording between X-n1 files and X-n2 files. I never use jpegs ooc.

Now I've got the XT" I'm going to have to go for the Adobe Photographer's package I think.

Although my Adobe RAW does open the new .rafs I'm going to miss Lightroom.

Don't quite follow that.
My Adobe won't open the T2 rafs but would with the T1. I now use the DNG convertor. Suppose I'll go to cloud eventually but I'm managing without FTB.

I set my xt-1 to Fuji velvia mode. I like the slightly blue tint I used the get with the real stuff. I do see the point though with RAW files being easy to manipulate

I hope you got that cheap. They haven't finished painting it yet.
You'll have to put some black tape on it or it will get stolen from you.
Might be a cut and shut job.

Another from last weekend. Arriving at Manorbier, two things were abundantly clear. One, this was the most interesting light I'd had all day. Two, it probably wouldn't last long. So I took this picture on arrival as a bit of insurance. Just as well I did, because it's probably my favourite of the afternoon.

Still using X-T1s and X-T10 but in all fairness I've not been out of house which is just as well as my 56mm got broken last time I was out :(
Look forward to seeing the pics (y)
