The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

Up early this morning. Didn't get as close to this as I wanted, need to go back another day!

So, one of these taken with the D800 (on a tripod), the other with the X-T2 handheld. WB in both identical and identically processed. The difference in colour rendition is striking.

sunshine, thanks for the reminder what it looks like! is that a gas pipe?
much prefer the colours on the 1st one looks more natural to me, less artificial

Who'd have known a bit of electrical tape on my camera would have caused so much grief :p
A couple more from the 12mm and X-T1 anyways, really impressed with how much you can correct distortion with Lightroom, the profile for this lens is really good!

Only issue with such a wide lens, spot the tog!

I'm sure plenty didn't, I'm dubious of the impact. Although blacking a silver metal camera so it doesn't glint and attract unwelcome attention I can see as being something you'd consider in a war zone

Do a Google image search for Don McCullin Nikon F. Maybe blacking the camera out could have prevented the result...

Black looks more "Pro"!

Is there a large problem with photographic gear being stolen from round people's necks when they are out with their gear? Not much mention of it on this forum, and there are enough whingers who will create an almighty stink if it was happening. So where does all this robbery and mugging take place?
I was out in Liverpool yesterday. That has a reputation of being a thieves paradise. I never felt threatened once. And I've been out down there on my own, at night, in winter and never felt in the slightest danger. So who exactly is it that is having all their gear nicked?

Only place I ever thought better of wandering around with my camera was Middlesbrough, eyed up a couple of times then a bloke stopped me supposedly asking for a light.
Everywhere else has been fine and some of them weren't exactly places with the best reputations, one of those things you just get a feel for.

Don't think a bit of tape would make b****r all difference, more than likely to be a smackhead looking to flog it for the price of a fix, so not exactly brand conscious.

Does anyone here have a Samyang 12mm? I'll be travelling a lot in the next few months with my next trip being China for 1month and I feel like I need a landscape lens. I can't afford the Fuji ranges atm, rather throw the money into the holiday itself. I'm sceptical if manual focus will be difficult as I haven't used a manual focus in years. Opinions?

Set it to infinity and 5.8 and your pretty much sorted.

I would suggest that for most landscape shots you can effectively hyperfocal distance, I'd wind to infinity then pull back just a tad (so its just short of inifinity) and use F8, let the camera work out the shutter speed

Many thanks for that Sir, much appreciated.(y)

"I didn't know if there was a way of checking out past inclusions. I bet we'll all be doing it now":D:D

George.
Congratulations it's a great feeling when you get your first explore:)
You should have the option to search all your images that have made explore in the link at huge big labs

Lovely images Brian I've hardly seen that thing called sun over the last few weeks and peeing it down today as well.

Thanks. Yeah I wasn't expecting a decent sunrise here to be honest, just decided to get out early!

It's an oil pipe I believe. First one is the hand-held X-T2 shot!

Great shot! Really like your work.

Thanks Ash, very kind.

I've just seen these on the expro site... how'd you find the practicalities of the extra cable? Did if get in the way at all?

And oh, nasty about the drop - I'd read that fuji just have one standard lens repair charge regardless of the damage....

Hi Patrick it worked well for me I never got snagged up with it once it's been well thought out as the leads appear to be just the right length :) I was switching between landscape and portrait orientation using XT-1 body with grip and my 50-140mmm with the tripod mount still on the lens.
I had the battery pack in my left hand jacket pocket but the case does have a belt strap on it if you prefer it that way.
I'm even thinking I might at sometime pick up a second 16000mAh pack for my back up XT1 or my XT2 with grip.
JUST ONE NOTE THOUGH.
If you use a XT1 or XT2 you will need the grip to be able to utilise the dummy battery pack as the door on those two models don't have the small rubber type grommet on them?
But all my other bodies do have the small removeable rubber for the wire from the dummy battery to power pack.

Thank you kindly Sir, I really appreciate your comments.(y)

Rather than a glistening shiny lump of glass reflecting at them?
Yeah but you can leave your lens cap on to stop the glass reflecting any light :D:p;)

Just a snap from sitting at my desk, shooting through glazing:

Sadly the light isn't very good as it was all in shade.
A lovely capture well done in such poor conditions (y) And you couldn't have picked a more beautiful species !

Talking of manual focus, here's a couple from yesterday with my M42 mount Pentacon preset 135mm f/2.8 with Lens Turbo II, so I guess a sort of 90/2 equivalent :)

Lottie with Spotty the Dog

Treading carefully

Love the second one, great combo of yellow and purple!

I'm still processing Pembrokeshire shots, but in the meantime here's a quickie from this afternoon. There was a lot of standing around in rubbish weather with no shelter waiting for the sun to come out. But come out it did, just in time for sunset, and the half hour after sunset was particularly nice, as is often the case.

Wow, those colours are awesome!

"Just A Heads Up" in case you're not already aware.

9-PM tonight on BBC-4, "Britain In Focus" part one. Probably worth a look. (y)

Oh well m well and truly pi**ed off spent all day sat and today waiting for the return of my lens from Fuji my XF 56mm f1.2 was sent to them last Monday for repair after getting knocked and mount and part barrel separated from aperture ring :(
I phoned Fuji on Friday who confirmed it had been repaired and despatched to me:)
Waited all day Saturday and till post arrived today but no parcel :(
Called Fuji who told me it had been dispatched viaUK mail ? I've never heard of them has anyone else on here ?
Armed with the tracking number I find theUK Mail site I get transferred only to be told they have lost my package !
They asked me how the package was being returned and what size box was pmsl how would I possibly know what packing Fuji had used to return it to me ? As they had a umber of parcels with no labels
So I called Fuji to was asked to hold the line 28 mins later I'm told it was unlikely labelling had come off it would have been packed in a brown box addressed and sealed before going into dispatch sack for collection by U.K. Mail.
Called uk Mail back still no luck !
I told them I need the lens for a studio I have booked for Wednesday night and I needed the lens.
But fear it's just fallen on deaf ears :(:bat:angry is not the word of the moment for me right now.
I fear a lot of buck passing is about to happen and this will drag on !

Anyone doing interior photography with the samyang 12mm? I'm wondering if its to limiting and would be better off with an old sigma 10-20 or something?

Sounds a right nightmare! UKmail are a big outfit so you're not getting ripped off by a cowboy. This should be down to fuji to sort out.

I'd use the native Fuji option - 10-24 XF. Minimal distortion, although the perspective is as extreme as the laws of physics say it has to be!

I've not shot any interiors for a while but I can recommend the XF 10-24mm I used that and the Samyang 8mm f2.8 for shots inside the Birmingham Library.
Saying that if you have a Siggy 10-20mm why not invest in a adapter for the XF body depending on thr lens mount on your Siggy you can get them for less than £10 :)

I haven't the wedge :(

I did have one I'm thinking I was a bit hasty selling it!
