Always happens to me. I never delete from camera anymore, just in case. Some of my best have actually come from shots I initially dismissed, then edit on a rainy day 6 months later.

I can recommend the battery pack it did a fantastic joe while on the shoot.

I've just seen these on the expro site... how'd you find the practicalities of the extra cable? Did if get in the way at all?

And oh, nasty about the drop - I'd read that fuji just have one standard lens repair charge regardless of the damage....
 
So as mentioned earlier a couple of shots from my first proper outing with the X-T1 + Samyang 12mm combo. Really enjoyed using such a wide angle lens, struggled with keeping the horizon straight on some close-ups so lost a bit to cropping! Overall the lens feels really nicely balanced on the body and the manual focus is no issue for such a wide angle!

Does anyone here have a Samyang 12mm? I'll be travelling a lot in the next few months with my next trip being China for 1month and I feel like I need a landscape lens. I can't afford the Fuji ranges atm, rather throw the money into the holiday itself. I'm sceptical if manual focus will be difficult as I haven't used a manual focus in years. Opinions?

Taken on a journey round town using my phone app trigger, silent Ninja style.
I tried a mono conversion, but it lost the subtle light from the girls phone.

See my post directly above yours for some of my examples, the manual focus is fine, the peaking on the Fuji system is easy to use and it's such a wide angle that if you're set around F5.6 most stuff is in focus anyway!
 
:agree: So long as you just remember to zoom in and check that stuff actually is properly in focus, it's very easy to use from that point of view.

Had a Samyang 12mm and 8mm. 12mm has noticeably different colour transmission to Fuji lenses, not an issue but be aware of it. Manual focus is easy, but make sure you keep your fingers out of shot. I couldn't, so sold it for a Fuji 14mm.

Yep it's a great lens. Saw a used copy on eBay for £200 earlier, which is about what I paid. It's nice and sharp.

Just to blend in more I'm guessing. The early days lots were using leica and the red dot sticks out a mile away. Something you don't want happening in dodgy areas.

it does the opposite now, you blend in if you don't do this as there are so many photographers about.
I think your more likely to get it nicked, as people might think prototype, or something special. maybe that's the point now, trying to make out its something its not. but hay each to there own

I'll try it out on my car. Maybe if I blank out the badges people will think it's a Range Rover rather than a Skoda Yeti.

Is there a large problem with photographic gear being stolen from round people's necks when they are out with their gear? Not much mention of it on this forum, and there are enough whingers who will create an almighty stink if it was happening. So where does all this robbery and mugging take place?
I was out in Liverpool yesterday. That has a reputation of being a thieves paradise. I never felt threatened once. And I've been out down there on my own, at night, in winter and never felt in the slightest danger. So who exactly is it that is having all their gear nicked?

Actually debadged cars has been around for ages, it's nothing to do with hiding branding however, just a way of 'smoothing' the look of the car. On Cameras, who knows. People just being pretentious I think, like a layman actually cares what brand your camera is.
 
Up early this morning. Didn't get as close to this as I wanted, need to go back another day!

So, one of these taken with the D800 (on a tripod), the other with the X-T2 handheld. WB in both identical and identically processed. The difference in colour rendition is striking.

Set it to infinity and 5.8 and your pretty much sorted.

It's nonsensical, the human eye detects movement. A little bit of white text is immaterial when you have a whole camera/lens/hands/arm movement going on. If you're close enough to read the text, the movement will trigger you first, if you're far away so you can't read the text... the movement is still what triggers you.

It's just a fashion thing which is fine. Just like thinking messenger style bags stand out less than a normal bag so is safer, when bag snatches tend to happen because the perp has seen what they are after being put into the bag in the first place.
