Keith, assuming that you are shooting with an X-T1, then in my experience the ex-pro white batteries last longer than the originals or any others that I have tried. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Ex-Pro-1260mAh-Replacement-Fujifilm-NP-W126/dp/B00EXP4Z9U

Also in my experience you have to be taking an awful lot of long exposures to actually run out of battery, and to be taking them all from exactly the same position seems unlikely unless you are doing star trails.

I would invest in a plate modifier for your tripod to convert to Arca, buy an Arca compatible grip and then that will allow access to the battery, but I suspect that unless your tripod is super sturdy, and you have really delicate hand movements, that you are going to move the camera position anyway, changing the battery in situ. Possibly better to mark the Arca grip/plate, so you can remove the camera and replace back in the same position.

Unfortunately I can't see any free solutions, they all cost money.

just bought it as well. I recently done a fresh install of my Mac software. So do i just download the trial version from Adobe then input the code?

yeah it was star trails i was trying, nothing major just messing about. Maybe some of my batteries are duds?

I'll find something that suits me when I really need it.

I'm trying to find out if I'm on a 12M contract or a rolling one so that I can cancel and buy the 12M licence from Amazon. But then it seems a bit of faff for a £2.50/month saving ;)
 
I've just bought a 27mm from eglobal for £160 with this code JBSK65. I also went through a cashback website who knows if i get the extra 4% off. No camera yet but i guess i've finally made my mind up between the A7 series and X series :).

I'm a bit apprehensive, why is it half the price of everywhere else? When something looks to good to be true it usually is.

Is it a Chinese site? No idea why they can do it so cheap, but it sure makes mine less worth selling. Guess I'm keeping it for now.

If you could use a manfrotto head, the PL-200 plate fits nicely on my X-T2, doesn't obscure the battery hatch, and allows quick release for a battery change, without any drama. I'm assuming the tripod thread on the X-T1 is located similarly.

Yeah they are but they have EU warehouses. There ebay listing says shipped from France so that could be where its coming from. They have a warehouse in the UK too.

That's £30 a year. You could get a decent memory card with that. Definitely worth the faff.
 
I might take up on that Amazon offer after christmas, if it's still on the go. For now I'm just sticking with my old LR 5.7 and CS 6

It's just a tiny all in one table top tripod with a ball head. But I don't see any connection not covering the battery door.

Going off at a slight tangent, does anyone know of an adaptor to put on a Manfrotto 460MG head to make it Arca compatible? The top of the head is one casting so will not take a screw-on one.

Stephen. Move gone OK? Settled in? (See what I did there?)
You can now get Manfrotto heads with built in Arca plates. I have one as does @Mr Perceptive but I can't remember the number off the top of my head.
Kirk do, or did, make an adaptor that fits into the RC2 clamp which has an Arca fitting on top. Works well. I had one but sold it to someone on here a while back.
Only problem is that it is somewhat non standard in that Wex who are the UK agents don't hold it as standard stock and you have to get it on special order. Given recent currency movements it might be better to bite the bullet and get a new head. I'll go upstairs and find my tripod head number. Watch this space!

My Manfrotto head is a MHXPRO-BHQ6

Not cheap but arguably the best head I've ever had. Rock solid but easy to manipulate. Has a safety locating pin to stop the plate moving sideways, and a safety release system so that you can't accidently remove it from the clamp.
Our Perceptive friend went through a mud bath with his, stripped it down and it still works like new.
Shrouds don't have pockets!

Yeah I hadn't appreciated that the X-T1 tripod mount is oddly located. On the X-T2 the manfrotto plate fits with clearance to spare, so you can still access the battery with it fitted.
