The 1.4 is sharp wide open and obviously is 1.4. The f2 is fast, quiet, sharp wide open but only at f2
I am no expert on lens manufacture, but I have the feeling that equating an APS-C 35mm with a full frame 50mm just because they have the same angle of view isn't quite cricketNot sure I'd call them bargains TBH. £369 for the 35mm f2 compared with £180 for the Nikon 50mm f1.8, or £100 for the Canon 50mm f1.8. The Canon 50mm f1.4 is still £69 cheaper than the 35mm f2. Granted the Fuji is weather sealed, but a bargain?

My only gripe with the f1.4 is the noise, the sort of juddering/rattling it does sometimes when it focuses. It's OK most of the time, but not when you're in a quiet environment. I've been asked to take some shots during the minutes silence on Remembrance Sunday and thought I'd use the 35mm f1.4, but I'm a bit paranoid about the noise, especially as the rest of the camera operation will be in stealth mode.

I don't think you'll find the Fuji sensor better than the A7II for noise and DR TBH. It's difficult to fully assess the Fuji for noise handling as the apply some NR, even to the RAWs and it does mean you can lose quite a bit of detail. I don't think anyone truly knows why Fuji does this.

You don't tend to use it for that on the Fuji TBH. Aperture is set on the lens, shutter by the dial on top (unless you want to do 1/3 stops in which case you need to 'fine tune' with the control dial).
Sounds much easier way and less hassle lol.. That sounds a better control
Unless it's the 27mm or XC lenses, of course. But that's starting to confuse things ...
For the most part it is. It's also nice to have an exposure comp dial so that you can quickly and easily see what you have dialled in. My only gripe is that it would be nice if they put aperture markings on all lenses rather than just a few. If they did this you wouldn't have to refer to the screen/viewfinder at all to see/check your exposure settings. Minor point, especially as you have to do this for most cameras these days.
I'm the same way with shutter speed, I just go by the sound of the ker-lunk :-D

Makes sense - any shutter speed slow enough to smooth out the water will blur the moving boats. What speed did you end up with in the end, and did you need to boost the ISO above base (I'm guessing yes)?
