The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

I had exactly those thoughts but decided that the waiting time for prices to drop was likely to be several months. The £ is being controlled by computers and twenty somethings who think that long term means next month so it will take some time for things to settle.
If you have the lucre you might as well use it. You'll get no meaningful return on your savings so might as well have the benefit of the gear.
You know you'll use it and you know it's a big step up from the T1 so why not? Coffins don't have pockets.

All true. I have to be in town over the weekend so might pop in to see if they still have it. It was on display so I might (there's that word again!) be able to screw a few quid off for it being "open box".

Just tried processing the Fuji files in aperture, wow the detail is incredible, much better for landscapes. Strangely it doesn't render portraits anywhere near as nicely, mainly because it doesn't have the camera profiles. Adobe RAW in LR is equally poor for portraits compared to the Fuji profiles imo. So it's aperture for Landscapes and LR for everything else for me (y).
Have you tried portraits in the Photos app Toby,it uses the updated version raw convertor from aperture, also Polar is pretty good

Really nice to see macro on Fuji and you got the eyes - nice.

One question if I may - does the 105 have a manual aperture ring or did you do the set and swap trick to get it to f11?
The nikon mount tamron macro i'm selling also has full manual aperture control :)

Not used photos since it was first launched, tried it and didn't like it. Only had basic adjustments at the time, not sure what it's like now?

When using raw images, the quality is really good. I tried it with some Fuji X-Trans images, and the quality is excellent. It doesn't suffer from any of the artifacts that you find in Adobe's conversions. In fact I was pretty impressed at how clean it renders Fuji files. I will go into this in more detail in a future post, but I'm really impressed. I'm not sure what raw engine they're using but it's really good. There may be some issues with the colour calibration, but detail wise, it's superb. Based on my initial testing, it's one of the best X-Trans conversions that I've seen so far (and I've tested a lot) but I could be just getting excited because it's new! I'll reserve judgement till I've used it more.

I'm in the market for a 23mm but can't decide between the new F2 or the original F1.4, as It will probably spend most of the time on my XP2 I'm leaning towards the smaller WR lens, anyone on here have any experience of these lenses ?

The 1.4 is still a small and very portable lens. I think the question you need to ask yourself is do you want to shoot at f1.4 or not?

I am waiting for delivery of a new 23mm f2 today Jim. I am hoping to take it for a run out at Brick Lane tomorrow. I was torn between it and the f1.4, but decided the WR was more useful than the wider aperture.

Question for those lucky enough to have compared an X-T2 with an X-T1 - how do they compare for viewfinder blackout when continuous shooting?

Whenever I try panning on my X-T1 it's a case of start the burst where I want, then guess the trajectory and speed as the viewfinder blacks out.Is the T2 any better in this respect? Its probably one of the few things making me reluctant to fully jump ship from my Nikon gear.

Better but still not perfect - the main advance is not in the blackout but in the lag, the X-T1 there was always a small delay in the image reaching you, so in tracking you would always be slightly behind the subject, it's much reduced on the T2.

I was thinking along the same lines, and as I'll be using it primarily on my X Pro 2 the smaller size would make it more useful using the OVF, Amazon have them in stock so I'm seriously thinking of buying one today, maybe have for tomorrow.

After a few years of waiting, I finally managed to catch an Apache in the Mach Loop! :D

Very nice shot Si, well framed and great use of shutter speed.(y)

I ordered mine from Amazon on the 10th Oct, and it's taken since then to get it delivered. It looks as if they are shipping from Germany, according to the tracking info.

Just wondering how many of you guys own an X-T2 and X-Pro2? I really prefer the X-Pro body from an aesthetic point of view but know that the X-T body is just more user-friendly (I have an X-Pro1 and X-T1).

Even without the custom AF, it has better controls for changing S/S, ISO, Drive, better EVF, a compensation dial that doesn't get moved as easily, and is just easier to hold in one hand. There are a few X-Pro2s on the used market for around £1100 and on TP they seem to go for around £1000. This is quite a saving over the X-T2 which is still hard to find and is around the £1300 - £1400 mark.

If you do own both or have owned both, what do you feel about each model and if you had the chance, would you have skipped the X-Pro2?

Personally I preferred the X-Pro 2 ergonomically although there were things on the XT2 that were better, mainly the tilt screen, battery grip was great for bigger lenses and the EVF is a bit better and its much easier to change ISO (Stupid ISO/combo button on X-Pro2), however I did bond with the X-Pro 2, just made me enjoy photography again!

I had both - briefly - but recognised I had to get rid of one. The X-Pro2 went. It was a much more stylish machine, but I found the OVF hardly used, and I felt the camera was unbalanced with any sort of weighty lens due to it not being held centrally to my face, if that makes sense. I also missed the tilting screen of the X-T.

Ah, that'll be why it's only showing as expedited shipping, normally as a prime customer I'd have it next day, I was wondering why, as I had never seen that shipping method before. Now I know :)

I too have both, I much prefer the X Pro 2. Looking through LR last weekend I was shocked to find it's my most used Fuji X camera. The XP2 just feels right to me, I can comfortably operate it with one hand. I also think it looks and sounds better. As Stephen L says, the X-T2 (with the battery grip) is better balanced with heavier lenses, but then it's in DSLR territory size wise. At the moment I'm keeping both, but If I had to make a choice I'd 100% keep the X Pro 2, it feels right and makes me want to pick it up and take photos, which is what it's all about !

Thanks for the replies to my XP2/XT2 question.

My feelings mirror some of yours. In my current situation, I much prefer to use my old XP1. It looks nicer, is built better, has better buttons and just makes me want to pick it up and use it. However, my XT1 gets more use because it balances far better with my 50-140, has the tilting screen (really useful for when I do still life and landscape/architecture) and is easier to hold if I’m just walking about with it.

I don’t think the EVF would be that much of an issue – I never felt disappointed with the XP1. What would be minus points are the lack of a tilting screen and the imbalance with the 50-140 or any larger lens.

There’s more chance the price of the XP2 will come down in the used market. MPB have at least 6 for sale. I’ve never seen an XT2 in the flesh...this would help as I could decide if I really wanted it. I doubt I will see one sometime soon as there are none in London or the SE / Kent where I am/am near
