The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

I've not bought it but:

Doesn't sound great. Personally I'd rather pony up another £40 or so and get a used Contax/Yashica mount Zeiss Planar 50/1.7 from FFordes and a cheap adapter.

Absolutely. Or go on eBay and pick up an old Minolta, Olympus, Pentax, Konica, Canon FD, Nikon plus adaptor for probably less than £65 if you look around. If you get a good one, it will be faster and sharper.

Here's a useful roundup, but as he says, the condition of the lens is more important than the make, for all the major players. http://www.verybiglobo.com/50mm-f1-4-legacy-lenses-shootout-wide-open/

I happen to have a Pentax M 50mm f1.4 for sale right now too, and an excellent lens it is too, undoubtedly one of the best 50mms.

Some pictures taken in Kos's garage. I saw this place during a wander round Holloway road.
Kos was happy for me take pictures while he worked on a Volkswagen.
I tried to get in close for some sparky action, it proved a bit of a challenge using a 60mm.

Evening all. Been away for a while, in Switzerland and then Crete (can't grumble). About 5000 exposures between the two , but here's one from each holiday...haven't sorted through most of the Crete shots yet, so there will probably be better to come...eventually! ;)

First one is superb.

I'm off on my travels to S E Asia in a couple of weeks and if I get one anywhere as good I will be a happy bunny!

Oh and I might see what I can get an XT2 for while I am away, Bangkok first then Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia and back to Bangkok so lots of chances to check prices out.

I see MPB are awash with XT-1s (17) and X Pro-2s (8) - I wonder why?? They offered £400 for my mint XT-1 so I think I'll keep it - it's still a lovely camera

One of the Pro2 cameras was mine! They gave me an excellent price considering it had been (carefully) used for the last 6 months.

Reminds me of a small place on the Dorset coast called Seatown (near Bridport) where I stayed for a few days fishing.

Daresay a lot of that coast looks very similar, nice photo especially the sun lighting up the beach and the blue sea

Used to stay there all the time as a kid, in the caravan park - love it there. Was in Lyme Regis all last week, such a beautiful stretch of coastline.

There are some exceptional walks along that way - and some lovely pubs. It's one of my favorite parts - always take a camera

Been waiting 10 days for my XT-2 and the store has my XT-1 in p/x so very grumpy when I woke to a lovely sky today with orange glow and wonderful clouds but no camera to capture it

So now i just need to find an in stock grip and a couple of batteries LOL.

Found one in Wales but they dont deliver to postcodes outside of Wales and its a bit far for a drive!!!!
I hate when retailers do that, Royal Mail deliver all over the UK so why marginalise a significant potential customer base ? Seriously.

Excellent service from Clock Tower Cameras

Arrived well packed first thing this morning.

Had a quick play with it today and it feels a lot nicer in the hand with the slightly larger grip and pleased with all the little extra tweeks they have made.

Just need to decide if its worth selling the X-T1 now as my ones still mint with hardly any shots on it but im sure the prices will now be poor with the amount about.

May just keep it as a spare just incase the 2 or 100T packs up.

Menu system on the new X-T2 will be a learning curve from my quick play earlier but looking forward to getting out with it tomorrow.

Well the D750s up for sale!
I hadn't planned to but someone was after one and I thought what the hell, sadly that ones fallen through, but that's inspired the full on shift to Fuji

Good move :) I'm quite happy to accept that the ff cameras have slightly better image quality. But what's the point if you're not inspired to use it? The Fujis just beg to be picked up and used. Sexy little things that they are :wideyed:

@manualfocus-g hows that L lens doing on you Fuji?

Hi mate, had a bit of a rough day today so didn't manage much in the way of shooting :( Tried to shoot the bees in the garden yesterday with the Canon FD 85/1.2L though, which was kinda tricky! Here's some massive crops:

The above was at f/8...

DSCF3602.jpg

The above was at f/1.2. Never again! It's EXTREMELY difficult to shoot bees at f/1.2 :D

.Last one for now...some roadkill I found this morning:

DSCF3640.jpg

Again, this was at f/1.2.

Nice shots. How do you find the output compared to the 56?

Thanks

Indeed, I have quite enough trouble with people at f/2! :D Nice shots. Top one is especially impressive.

Ha, shooting anything at that sort of aperture is a challenge :) Thanks for the comments.

I can't really compare yet to be honest, although from memory the 56 is sharper wide open and renders a little smoother (particularly the bokeh). I'm surprised at how sharp this lens is wide open though, probably aided by the aspherical and floating elements.

Yeah, this will be me in a couple of weeks time, been to Bkk many times only done Chinatown for one evening, more time to explore this time...

Give us a shout if you've got time. I may still be here. :)

A few more typical shots in Chinatown. I should have said in my last post, all shot with X-T1 and 18.

Five and half tons of real gold here:

There are things that a DSLR does better than the X-T1 so I'll be keeping my D750 system for a while longer. Maybe the X-T2 can approach the DSLR in some of these areas but at over a grand, plus the loss on the Nikon kit if I traded it in, I'll be sticking to running 2 systems and picking the appropriate one for the situation. Does have to be said that the Fuji bag gets picked up a LOT more than the Nikon one though!

One thing i am missing on the new X-T2 is Silent Mode.

Could be assigned to the Q menu on the X-T1 and X100T but no way of doing it that i can see on the X-T2.

That's a good point actually,I've not seen enough of the X-T2 yet to know whether it can compete with DSLRs for sports and wildlife. I guess it will all come out in the wash :)

Looking at Mr Perceptive and Mikledore's shots from motor sport, it looks like the X-T2 is catching up in some respects (although tracking while panning isn't that taxing on an AF system) but the high ISO capabilities of the D750 are almost certainly still a street or 2 ahead of the X-T2. For static wildlife, the X-T1, 100-400 and teleconverters does pretty well, although BiF are a challenge! (That's probably my technique as much as the system's shortcomings though!)

Doesn't electronic shutter make it silent?

The great thing was silent mode turned off all sound,A/F assist beam and flash if fitted all through one button.

Was very handy at weddings and in churches as it stopped everything with one handy button and made it truly invisible in certain situations.

Can turn everything off through each separate menu still but it was more convenient mapped to one button or first item on the Q menu.

I think its still there somewhere - I just found this in a review:

To make the camera less obtrusive there's a Silent menu option which turns off the speaker, flash, AF-assist lamp and most importantly the shutter-release sound, instantly making the X-T2 perfectly suited to more candid photography.

I better get my glasses out and start digging then as not been able to find any reference yet, used to be able to just hold down the DISP button and assign it through that.

The worst thing is I'm sure I heard its changed a little - from a Fuji guys video a bit ago.

Looking through the manual I did see that flash is automatically turned off in electronic shutter, not so sure how to do the others automatically.

Sorry, I have been looking but can't find it...

Thank you Peter. I also use Canon ( a 7Dmk1 with lots of L) but I cannot get the images off that that I can with the Fuji. If it wasn't such a big hit on the glass, I would switch to Fuji.

+1(y) The second one is my favourite. I think it would be even better if you cloned the bird out.
