The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

This is nice! I've just got that lens delivered. I've a few of my pup and they're sharp as a tack and sharper than the Canon 70-200 2.8 II I once had. Did you get the teleconverter too? I did and don't see much of a difference in IQ, if any.

Thanks Kris,

I didn't get the 1.4x converter because it wasn't included in the cashback offer for some reason... I'll grab one at some point though or pray that a third-party version comes out that's as good and a lot cheaper! :D

Cheers,
Si

The kits with the 1.4x aren't in the cashback because your getting a massively discounted teleconverter, an extra £50 over the standalone cost of the 50-140 f2.8 gets you the teleconverter thats normally around £300 on its own, hence why they're not in the cashback offer.

Nikon lenses are better but the colours are lovely.
Sorry but not for me.

I think what you're referring too is the bokeh you get from Nikon when shot on full frame, which has more to do with the body than the lens.

I think the beauty with mirrorless is you have a choice - no grip and an f2 lens and you have an awesome lightweight setup. Grip and better glass when you need it.
I was actually alluding to the sprained wrist , i.e lifting heavy weights. Yeah p*** poor I know

Exactly this, personally I prefer the X-Pro 2 form without a grip than the XT2 but its great that you can take the XT2 to different sizes, basically DSLR size from when you want the battery power and extra grip with the larger glass or small and svelte with a prime for travel!

Second that. I know lots of people buy mirrorless to go smaller and lighter but for me this point is at the bottom of my list. I love the fact that I can have a small light system when I want and a bigger heavier one when I m in the mood.

Ffordes told me they hope to get more stock late September. Lucky I got mine when I did! I'm really enjoying it so far, and I'll post pics when I return from Yorkshire. I also have my Pro2 with me, and although it's still fun I know which I prefer!

I can't remember where it was mentioned here but it seems that the smaller stores have it in stock unlike the bigger stores

Stock levels depend on the number of pre-orders that a shop had, since many choose to buy over the internet the main internet sellers had more pre-orders than initial Fuji delivery, for some smaller bricks and mortar shops this wasn't true.

My local shop had a couple spare this time last week. They don't anymore!
They are waiting for the next batch but it appears that there is not yet a definite date for delivery.

Taken with the 8mm Samyang Fisheye. Lens correction seems to have worked well.

Here's another. Taken on Auto ISO with a max of 6400, and it went all the way to 6400. Not too bad considering.

Think I like the customisable Auto ISO feature.

Very nice. I have a 8mm arriving next week. How easy do you find correcting the distortion? Is there a lens profile in LR?

Use the Nikon 10.5mm Fisheye profile, it makes a pretty good job

.

Like the Mono Bridge, trees look a bit weird on LHS, but then you did take these up north.......

As the man said^^^the Nikon fisheye profile works better than any thing else.

Think that's mainly due to the lens correction. Could have cropped I suppose but decided to see what you said.

Just made a reservation for a XT2 + 35mm f2 in my local camera shop.

Will trade in my nikond 3300, they are going to price match Wex hopefully and they said they would make me a discount on an extra baterry or UV filter. Any advices on UV filters?

Its an odd diameter, 43mm
Get a 72mm and a step up ring. Then it will fit other lenses that you might buy. Step up rings are a long cheaper and easier to carry than a lot of UV filters of different sizes.

For a UV filter?! That would look mighty weird.

Just use the hood, put the money towards an extra battery.

Anyway @Mr Perceptive.
This Acros simulation. How do you find it? I ran off approx 150 the other day in all lighting conditions and was a bit disappointed with the results. They all appeared flat and needed tweaking in contrast and clarity.
The bridge shot above was a conversion from the RAW image. I couldn't get the jpeg to the same standard.
How are you finding things?

Haven't really shot much since last week, work has been (and still is) manic. I was pleased with the pictures I took with it on Saturday, though I need to really have a play with all the settings, taking the same shot to understand bthe difference between the filrs and what can be achieved by fiddling with the Fuji Highlight/Shadows settings etc. Might have a further play on Saturday.

BTW this months Digital SLR User has a location visit to Manchester, and has thrown up some new locations I wasn't familiar with, so another trip must be on the cards.

I prefer to have UV filters for each lenses, but anyway i will only have the 35mm to start with and this year i wont buy any other so

Yes Mr.Perceptive I will probably invest on a 2nd battery.

Its so handy to have it this weekend cause Im flying to Madrid for 3 days next weekend :D

Yup. I'm in Rome the week after next but apart from that I'm free whenever suits you.

Got to be early October, as I'm off to the land of the Magic Roundabout for the last week in September with work. Any other near Manchester Fuji shooters interested?

I'm back 2nd October. First Saturday is 8th. Want to pencil it in? Can talk locations on Saturday.

Park Cameras are now telling me the end of the month - hopefully.

I would go and look elsewhere but I took the offer of the grip & camera together and got a discount in doing so. Ho hum...

I recently bought (from this forum) a couple of B&W XS-PRO Nano filters, I had one fitted on my 16-55mm F2.8 when taking some shots round the Titanic quarter in Belfast weekend past. I got some flare, which I only noticed when I reviewed the shots at home. I bought the B&W as I'd heard they were the best, but I'm coming round to the "no filters" school of thought.
Enjoy the X-T2 it's a great camera as is the 35mm F2 :)

Looking good, I bought mine from them as well but decided to call their store instead of buying online. Should be with me by tomorrow :)

If I lived closer I'd have done the same, you can guarantee if I'd jumped in the car someone would have bought the last one whilst I was on my way over!

There now is a specific profile in LR, but there are quite a few different manufacturers' profiles of a similar focal length to experiment with. Personally I've used a Sigma profile.

Love both shots; there's tons of interest in the second one! I'm happy routinely using 12800 ISO as a maximum.
