The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

Well I went instore to John Lewis to see the X-T1 and X-T10
I am pretty shocked how small cameras have got! I have looked at plenty online but the scale obviously wasn't really conveyed in the photos as everything looked and felt tiny compared to my D600!

Size is now not an issue between the 2 models, is the X-T1 worth an extra 1-200 over the X-T10?

One of each :)

There are other differences of course but I would say that weather-sealing and size are the two biggest. I opted for the X-T10 because I had my eye on the X-Pro2 which already gives me weather-proofing and the X-T10 will be my backup :)

I've got to say I would like the X-T1 for the buffer size, and slightly better grip but I more or less love them both... oh if only a UK one of either would pop up in the classifieds!

The other thing is if your going to use 16-55mm F2.8 or 50-140mm F2.8 i find the XT-1 handles theses lens a bit better, not so top heavy, plus you can add the battery grip :)

Decided to put my X100 S black version up for sale as I have just purchased the 56 1.2, I have been wanting this lens for a while so I now have the 18-135, 18, 35 1.4 and the 56. I may in future sell the 18mm and replace with the 12mm Samyang for something wider.

I've not shared a photo on here for a while, so thought i'd post one. It was taken with my XT-1 and 23mm.
The location is Stanley in the Falkland Islands where I am currently working. Glorious sunset and the ship in the background is called the Lady Elizabeth which ran aground many years ago (1914 I think??).

That's a very nice shot Jim, beautiful colours, great comp', and well exposed.(y)

George.

Thanks for the links re 52mm cap, £12 seems a tad dear.......am I a cheap skate ?
Depends how much easier it makes selling your lens.
We all know that picture quality of 2nd hand lenses reduces exponentially the further the lens gets from a genuine lens cap or, heaven forbid, an empty cardboard box sat in the attic.

The XT-1 balances better with bigger lenses, bigger EVF, weather sealed and better buffer

I have had a few Fuji X cameras the X-T1 and X-T10 being two of my purchases i have none now :(
If i was to go out and buy another i would pay the extra and go for a X-T1 for the build quality, weather sealing, better EVF and just felt nicer sized for me.

If you don't mind refurbed gear Fuji sell them and they look like new apart from box being different plus come with a 12 month warranty ? use Paypal12 discount too ;) http://shop.fujifilm.co.uk/refurbished-digital-cameras?cat=113

Focus is a bit off in that bottom one, Frank!!!

I've replaced all my Fuji caps with 7dayshop ones since the pinch lugs on the genuine Fuji ones are so narrow that the lenses aren't stable enough for my peace of mind when stood on the front caps during lens changes.

Fuji X-T10 - 56mm F1.2 - 1/320

My current fuel of choice, an iced espresso. Going mad stuck in the house with my 56mm!

It's something to do with the compression needed to fit your pics into the permissible size. Same thing happens if you upload to the gallery on here. I did see it explained once but I don't speak geek so my eyes glazed over. From what I can recall the only way round is to host your images on a website that allows you to display at full size, then link into here.
I've just learned to live with it and so long as my own images are sharp I don't worry too much. Most folk who look on Flickr wouldn't know a sharp picture if it cut them!!!

Just had another look at the two images I posted earlier. The difference in quality between what I see at home and what is on Flickr/this thread is quite noticeable.

Good move with the caps- have you seen the price of the genuine Fuji caps- £££

A strange thing happened last night, the landlord of my local asked me to photograph his wedding. I kept saying no but he insisted, so basically I need some gear advice.
I currently have an X-T1 the kit 18-55 and the 50-230 I'm thinking that this won't cut the mustard so some suggestions for a good wedding lens would appreciated. It won't be a formal do just a marquee in the pub garden and a pee up later.
Does anyone rent out Fuji lenses?

Lenses for hire rent out fuji lenses so you will be able to get some fast zooms or some faster primes.

£89 (not including courier) will get you the 16-55 f2.8 and the 50-140 f2.8 for 3 days hire
That would give you a good focal range coverage.
