The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

Currently waiting for X-ray results on my ankle... Someone feel sorry for me haha!

Drinkin' out of wet glasses again Adam ? ;) "TUT, TUT" :D:D

George.

So do we reckon the XT2 will be essentially an XT1 with the new bits from the X Pro 2? Must admit I'm quite tempted with the extra PDAF pixels, although some of the new features look like they could have been added with a firmware update. Maybe us XT1 users will get Acros simulation at some point too?

I think that an XT2 with the X Pro 2's higher raw ISO and 1/8000 shutter speed would be an attractive thing... It would answer a couple of my own personal criticisms of the system. I personally don't feel the need to have the OVF and the intrusion of the lens would irritate me as much today as it did in years past so the XT2 would be more attractive to me.

I've often thought that APS-C is pretty much a Goldilocks format and I'm sure that an XT2 with the best bits of the X Pro 2 would be an attractive camera.

Hands up if you want the new Fuji 100-400mm f4-5.6 in February :D

Yes, but it will probably be June/July before I can raise the money to pay for it :(

I'm heavily thinking about ditching my Nikon D600 as I have issues with the weight now (I have a bad back and wrists) .. Is £500 a good price for one with the 18-55?

I'd been told the 18-55 is a lot sharper than the 16

Browsing backwards through the thread, hoarding info
Thanks

Yes its a bloody good price depending on age & usage, I wouldn't consider selling my sub 1000 shot XT-1 GS for that price for the body only.

I thought it was the 16-55 being discussed and I was confused as hell

It isn't, but it's better built. (16-50 f3.5-5.6)

I'll need to do some more reading, then! The 18-55 makes the kits quite a bit more expensive. The aperture was appealing as I've been using a Nikon 24-70mm 2.8 so don't want to go too slow.

Things to like about the 16-50: It's light, it's cheap, it has excellent IQ.
Things to dislike: It feels horrible. No aperture ring or OIS switch.

Things to like about the 18-55: It has an aperture ring & and OIS switch. It is metal. It feels lovely.
Things to dislike: Compared to the 16-50 it's relatively heavy and expensive.

Very helpful, thanks!

I've just become the proud owner of the Fuji 90mm F2 lens so thought I'd give it a try in a Barn that I've been having converted into a studio at home. To say I'm impressed with it's optical performance is an understatement.:)

This is just a couple of shots of some of my effects pedals from a miss spent youth when I used to mess about trying to convince people that I could play a guitar.
For all you technical bods, I know the lighting and shot angles etc, etc are not perfect but the shot was mainly to demonstrate how good this lens is optically. Looks even better on Flickr.

Just updated the Fujifilm camera remote app which I haven't been able to get to work previously so I've just been using the photo receiver app. The camera remote app works perfectly now, so incase anyone gave up on it previously might be worthwhile trying it again after the update.

They both look great to me George! Especially the pseudo gradient to the bottom of the Marshall pedal which looks pretty neat :) Congrats on your new purchase :)

Really nice shots George, your dad mentioned the studio you were building!
Very jealous of the lens but at the moment I've convinced myself that 135mm equiv is a silly focal length that I couldn't possibly ever need...

Thanks for that G, appreciate your comments. Just really messing about trying things out. I'm "VERY" pleased with the optical quality of the lens it's an absolute cracker.(y)

Having been used to using a 135mm on film it's a focal length that I'm really used to, so it should slot into my way of working with the Fooj pretty well. I've only got one other prime for the Fooj and that's the 23mm. And although it's a superlative lens I just cannot get on with that focal length (35 equiv), so I really want to get the 35mm (50ish equiv). Everything else I've got for the X-T1 is zooms.

The studio is not quite finished yet but is coming along nicely, hopefully when it's finished I'll be able to do a fair bit of my work from home. It's a bit of a pain having to travel up to South London or Northamptonshire each day when the travelling time could be used more productively.

George.

George you cannot underestimate the 23, 56 and 90 for optical quality, they are all top drawer lenses.

Agree with you there David, I've got the 23mm but as mentioned to Adam it's a focal length I struggle to get on with. For me it's not wide or long enough but agree it's stunning quality. I've never tried the 56mm though probably because I've never used an 85/90mm on FF always gone for a 105mm. Must admit the 56mm is penciled in to try.(y)

I've never yet come across a bad Fuji lens, they all appear to be really excellent lenses.

Ah I absolutely loved the 23mm when I had it, hence why I'm looking to get rid of the X100s again! The 56mm is amazing from the little use I've given it so far and the new 35mm is lovely as well :)

Three excellent additions to this thread.

Tried the pano feature today. This is a complete 360 degree circle. Crappy resolution due to compression to fit. Looks good full size.

An interesting day. Found the road blocked by a landslide from Hurricane Frank. (I get blamed for everything!)
Bottom rh corner you can see where the water has gouged a massive gap in the lakesdie.
Drove 5 miles up a dead end valley on sheet ice.
Had to be pushed out of a snow drift.
Had a long conversation with an Audi Chelsea tractor owner who didn't know how to switch on 4WD, but had a nice pair of dogs. Wife wasn't bad either!
On top of the hills it was -9 which felt warmer than the +2 when I got back to the car. Went up the gap just L of centre to Small Water.
