The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

Ah thanks for the heads up! Will check online :)
Got my line up sorted for now: 14, 35 and 56 :)
Cracking kit you've put together there Adam :)

I've got a Samyang 50mm 1.2 arriving tomorrow, looking forward to having a play with it. Tempted by the 12mm f2 and 24mm 1.4 as well for my photography that doesn't require AF, as I love MF in this age of peaking and zooming.

Morning All,

QUESTION 1 - I'm of snowboarding next week and will be taking my XT-1. Has anyone taken theirs before and how does it cope with the temp changes?

QUESTION 2 - I may have left this late but is there any way of getting it to shoot (burst) once motion is detected? Currently use Iphone remote trigger but that may prove difficult if i'm the one in the air...

I'm guessing a good stock of batteries will be the call of the day depending on use and temperatures !

Q2....think you might need a Triggertrap setup:-

http://www.triggertrap.com/#products/triggertrapmobile1

Mr Perceptive of this parish swears by his. Either wait for him to pass by or drop him a PM. He's pretty harmless really!

I'm on-site with customers most of this week so will only check in at intervals

The trigger trap should do want you want. It's quite a neat device but sometimes does sync properly with the camera, usually sorted by power cycling the camera.

It does however drain your phone battery as it keeps the screen on whilst in operation.

Recently I've been getting much longer battery life from the Ex-pro White batteries (about £12 through Amazon)

There is also a Fuji wireless app available that you can install on phone or ipad that will control and trigger set up for free :)

Here just google

Thanks all,

Thanks @mickledore & @Mr Perceptive - Have looked into triggertrap in more detail and it looks like it will do what I want and more (Some nice timelapse approaches). It does have quite a bit of cross over with the phone App @Phiggys mentioned which I use this for some more basic/standard stuff and transfers currently.

I have two batteries - hopefully I will be focusing on snowboarding more than shooting but we will see :).

CONDENSATION - I imagine its a case of getting the camera / lens separated and letting them "air" in the apartment after a day on the slopes... ?

I would suggest that another couple might be an idea. They are relatively cheap. You could easily run through two in a cold days shooting.

I fly on Saturday :(. Longest il be doing any shooting for will be 1-2 hours. Il either freeze or be to eager to get back on the slopes by then!

Once your back indoors leave the camera in room at room temperature without the lens cap on it.
If you can get to a chemist you might well be able to get hold of some silica gel bags that come in with there drug supplies.
Just might be worth throwing a few in you bag but try not to let them come in contact with your camera gear.
I usually put them either in paper envelope or a piece of cotton fabric.
You need to dry them out periodically I leave mine on top of a radiator.

A quick word of appreciation for Fuji's repair team.

I noticed over the Christmas period that the orange tab within the battery compartment of my X-E2 had failed, and no longer kept the battery inside the battery with the door open. Here's the what happened next:
  • Raised the repair online on Sunday 3rd January
  • Box (in a box!) was received on Wednesday 6th January along with return instructions
  • Sent the camera to Fuji on Friday 8th January
  • Received it back, fixed and ready for action on Wednesday 13th January
That is some pretty classy service from Fuijfilm!

Great idea. Will pop over to the one near work tomorrow! Thankyou!

Just a couple of shots of a little chap who seemed quite happy.

Finally managed to get beyond the garden with the camera! 2 weeks into 2016, withdrawal symptoms setting in! Here is me throwing everything at an image - Long Exposure, check; Seascape with lead in rocks, check; Sunset, check. Colour courtesy of XT1 Velvia simulation and a custom WB that I'd forgot I'd shifted over to warm (to counteract the cast of the filters), however it works here I think as it compliments the browns right at the bottom of the shot.

One of my favourite places, Stuart! Bit of a horizon halo going on there? Nice shots, though, particularly the first.

Cheers Chris
The halo may actually be the snow covered hills Fife side.
Will double check though.

Love the composition and colours in this one.

Thanks, it was well worth the frostbite, though I must find a better storage solution for my filters, faffing about with the little fabric pouches when your fingers have iced over and no longer bend is no fun!

Great to hear that from Fuji service.

Were you have with the fee? Was it reasonable? and did you pay for postage and was that cover by Fuji? Thanks

I paid nothing as it was under warranty :) Even the box came pre-stamped :)

I had similar good service from them when I sent an Xpro1 ( minus battery) in, it was retuned in 3 days, fully repaired and cleaned, with a new battery installed....
