The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

Love it, exactly what I was looking for a second body (smaller, tilting screen, EVF, Electronic Shutter, new AF system).

The 90mm looks rather special too.

From the almost computer render like photos of the XT10 I didn't like the look of it at all, I likened it to an old Russian SLR vs a proper one, but seeing it in proper photos it looks quite smart and nowhere near as toylike as it had previously appeared. Being smaller again than the XT1 I might find myself with one eventually, though as an addition to rather than replacement for the XT1. Would rather be spending the money on lenses at the moment!

I have a friend who desperately wanted an XT1 like mine though but was well over budget, and this would be perfect for her.

Seriously tempted now, especially with the £80 trade in bonus. Do we have any idea how long stocks will take though?

The new 90mm is due in July so I'd expect the X-T10 to be similar? Doubt it will be out before the X-T1 gets the new firmware.

Less than 100. Only came home with 71 and some of them were with the changed battery.

Really??? Where did you get it from? I think you have a dodgy battery tbh. Might be worth picking up an Ex-Pro battery from Amazon for the sake of £9.

I've been using my Ex-Pro battery pretty much exclusively since getting it so I've swapped over to the Fuji one now so it gets a few cycles through it before i start going out on decent length photography trips.

Frank, do you just keep the thing switched on with the rear screen on? I get 400+ shots out of a battery using the EVF and occasional reviewing on the rear screen as well as turning it off between shots. Always use AF and OS.

Interested as to whether you leave the camera switched on and let it hibernate, or if you switch off between shots?

I have a range of batteries, both genuine ones and after market. No discernable difference in performance between them.

Yes Nod, I have been using it with the rear screen on. I think this might be the problem as it never seems to go off. I did intend to switch it off yesterday but force of habit made me forget. Trouble is I use the rear screen all the time with the 5D and can't break the habit.

I have been leaving it switched on but it never seems to hibernate, possibly because I'm constantly looking through the vf for potential shots.
Will probably gave to change my style!

90mm review...

http://www.kevinmullinsphotography.co.uk/fuji/fujifilm-xf90mm-f2.html

Even with leaving the rear screen on, 70 shots is p*** poor. I leave it on the eye sensor to switch between the evf and rear screen with a 1.5 second image review and can easily get 300 shots. Having said that it's very rare that i go out and take that many. When i shot the cricket the other day i took about 50 shots whilst i was messing around with some exposure bracketing, different settings etc on some landscape stuff before going to the cricket. Then shot about 150 there on AF-C and CH.

I never seem to have the rear screen in sleep mode. Maybe I've ot something set wrong, but it does appear to be on always. This, I think, is the cause of the problem. If I could get it to switch off after approx 30secs I'm sure battery life would be prolonged.

Do they do X100 batteries as well do you know?

I didnt realise it had an X-E2 viewfinder, I think that would be the biggest off putter for me, although I liked the X-E2 viewfinder when I had mine the viewfinder in the X-T1 simply blows it away and I dont think I would be comfortable with that viewfinder now

June 18th I thought for the X-T10, presumably X-T1 v4 firmware will arrive at the same time.

On previous experience putting in a pre-order at somewhere like WEX now will get you one of the first shipments into the UK.

Colin, looks like they have dulled your original trade in price a little to £220... Then £80 from them to make £300 in total.

Just as a side note, looks like you could buy and X-Pro1 from the refurb shop for £299 - 10% discount code = £270, wex will give you £290 for it plus £80 = £370... Nice way to make a few quid towards buying and X-T10.

I did notice that earlier, but I think it's just badly worded. Those are example trade prices and not set in stone.

I emailed WEX earlier and asked if my quote of £270 would also get the £80 bonus and was told yes. I was also quoted £130 for my 50-230, that gives me a total trade of £480. I've been thinking of getting another 55-200 so maybe I should sell my 18-55 and just go for the full kit with 18-55,-55-200 for £999

This was my first thought when seeing the WEX email this morning.

However...that's the full, maximum quote for a mint, presumably boxed, X-Pro1. The vast majority of cameras from the refurb store come repackaged in a generic Fuji box.

Some big ol' changes in the ukaskew household...

X-T1
X-T10

16mm 1.4
35mm 1.4
90mm f2

(+ 55-200 to keep me going until the 100-400)

Going to miss that 50-140 but can't really justify it, did the business and earned it's keep so no regrets!

That puts me in exactly the position I always wanted to be in (24, 50, 135 in FF terms), 135mm is my all time favourite focal length so I'm very, very excited about this one.

Nice lineup!

Thought I would share this from a few weeks ago, entered it into POTY for April so couldn't post until now.

Taken with the X-T1 and my old Minolta MD 50mm really pleased with it and I managed joint first place for this month :)

That's one very nice shot Steve, lovely full range of B&W tones in the distant mountains with great contre-jour lighting on the sheep and still retaining some shadow detail. Great stuff.(y)

George.

Really tempted by the XT10. Currently shoot with an XPro1 and have been considering an XT for a while however for the price I wasn't sure if it was worth the upgrade - especially as the XP1 has dropped price considerably.

The XT10 looks a good option however. Weather sealing isn't really a bother to make me jump over. Tiltable screen, wi-fi and better AF would all be welcome however.

You might have it set to eye sensor and every time it senses something near the eyepiece (like your chest), it'll switch from rear screen to EVF and then back, keeping it awake like a snoring roommate! As I said, I switch mine off between shots and get plenty of battery life - compared to some CSCs, the X-T1 switches on and is ready to shoot very quickly, as I start lifting it to eye level, I switch it on and by the time it's there, it's ready to shoot.

That does make sense. I had a feeling that something was waking it up and keeping the screen on, but thought I was pressing buttons by accident. I'll check that out, many thanks.

(And don't mention snoring!!!)

They really go thought your cameras,it has to tick every box in an two page assessment before it get mint status :)

No 56?? Silly boy. :D

I know, pretty painful giving up the 23, 56 and 50-140, if I had a lottery win I'd keep it all! Next year is my first proper full-on year for weddings (got 5 in June 2016 already) so I'm sure I may be able to sneak the 23 and 56 back in at some point.

Not sure what I would do with all that glass, but it would make me feel warm inside :)

The new AF looks good - would like to see a video with it combined with Continuous shooting though to really see how good it is!
