The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

Out of curiosity when you buy an xt1 do you have to install all firmware updates or can you go from 1.0 to 4.0? I presume you need to do them all?

No you will be able to load 4.0 direct which will encapsulate all other versions. It's a very simple job, you just need a fully charged battery and a formatted SD card.

Directions are all on the Fuji web site. By the time you've boiled the kettle the new FW will have uploaded to your SD card.

Seriously impressive, for most systems this along with the v3 firmware would easily justify a whole new body.

Festival of Speed on June 26th, fingers crossed 'late June' means 'just before the 26th'!

That AF update looks awesome! I can't wait :)

I also like chage 4:

(4) Name of Silent mode changed to avoid confusion
The Silent Mode has been renamed to “SOUND & FLASH OFF”.

Yay! This will stop the (understandable) repeated asking of the "why won't my flash fire" question :)

I might get it tbh, small, be better focussing than the old 35 and WR. Nice little walkabout lens when don't want the 16-55..

The new wide tracking looks awesome, since the train scenario is exactly what I shoot with it! Never had a body that could manage it so far.

If only it was that simple... Why not push it to f/0.2 while they are at it... And make it out of air....

"When the Shutter Speed Dial is set to T and the Shutter Type to Mechanical + Electronic, you can use the command dial to set a full range of exposure times from 30-1/32000sec. Previously, this was limited to 30-2 seconds. This means you can change the shutter speeds across a broader range without having to change camera position. This is particularly useful when shooting in the portrait orientation with the Vertical Battery Grip VG-XT1 attached."

Had to just check my camera to see that there is a T on my shutter dial. What does it do at the moment?

Yes. This. Good idea! They like to market themselves as a firm who listen to their customers, drop em an email and tell em to get their fingers out. :D

Anyone seen a rear shot of the X-T10? Apparently it has a PASM dial...

Alan, i wish my dial just had an A setting. :D

Meh. And the 90mm should be f0.95, lightening fast focus and as light as a feather made from titanium and carbon fibre.

Oh an a pancake lens too.
Well I'm holding out for the 8-400mm f2 across the whole range

OK so curiosity got the better of me and I just tried T. All it does it give you shutter speeds from 2 - 30 seconds changed via the front control dial. What the hell is the point in that?

I cant get the t setting ot work on my X-T1, when I select it and move the control wheel it just stays at 2"

Yes yes yes!

Alan, what does the B mean aswell?

Bulb, or remote release mode as I prefer to call it (because I have a wired timer remote which takes over the shutter speed settings)

Turn it the other way then :p Have you reversed the control wheels in the menu? try the back wheel.

So with the new firmware you will need it in the T position aswell but will be able to go from 30-1/32000 then?

That makes more sense to me, then you have the option of using the top dial or the control wheel. The latter way makes a lot of sense as you need to use it to change 1/3 stops and anything over max mechanical speed anyway. I wish they'd expand the lower range too though, then I wouldn't need the timer remote for long exposures.

Ohhh bo**ox using the wrong control dial, I so often forget about the one at the front. Just done a bloody system reset too to try and sort it

It's not just me then? I remember it in playback (it lets you flick through images without changing the zoom factor), but never when shooting. I think it's the manual controls on the lens and top plate - you forget about the wheels.

Need to get it patented first then license it to them. Won't have to do a hard days graft ever again!!
