The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

Maybe try this

Continuing on with the theme of inspecting the contents of app installers, you can also extract package files and sort through their contents without actually installing them. To do this, you can often just right-click on a pkg file and select “Show Package Contents” – but that isn’t always displayed. Assuming that option is unavailable, we can extract .pkg files using a command line tool called pkgutil that is bundled with OS X:

  • Launch Terminal (in /Applications/Utilities/)
  • Use the following syntax:
    pkgutil --expand/path/to/package.pkg /output/destination/

Hint: recall that you can drag & drop items into the Terminal to print their full path, making this tip easier by typing: pkgutil –expand [drop file here] /destination/path/
    extract-package-file.jpg

  • Go to the outputs path in the Finder and check out the extracted files
You’ll notice that some package files contain even more package files, quickly leading you into a deeply nested package extraction process. Other than that, this is an excellent way to see what’s contained within packages, particularly the ones where the alt-click “Show Package Contents” option isn’t available, which is increasingly common in Mac OS X Lion, although ultimately it depends on how the package was constructed.

Trevor, you had me right up until "Maybe try this".

Thank you for your efforts but, as per my post above, I'm not desperate and it looks like I need some other software that isn't available for Macs yet so I'll wait until such a time as there is a coming together of the different worlds.

Well I'm not that bothered about tethering at this stage, just wanted to see what was what after the firmware update.

Still seems strange that my old Sony came with software that allowed tethering and worked very well with LR yet it still isn't standard with newer cameras.

Agreed, it's annoying that the option isn't there. Fuji have been messing about since the start of the year trying to get tethering up and running.
In saying that, in all the years I had Canon's I only actually used tethering on one occasion, but I knew I could any time I wanted.

I did set up the Fuji software on my PC so that jpegs could be sent over WiFi to a folder which lightroom could access and display, but that was far too much faffing about.

Don't tell me that straight out of camera

Which lens as it not on your Flckr

Took this shot of our eldest Grandson when visiting the Kelpies at the start of the week.

Superb portrait. I'm using the 56 at a wedding for the first time tomorrow, I will be thrilled if I get this sort of look from it.

Did you sharpen the image at all??

A very nice shot there, Colin. The lens has a look all of its own! Looking forward to giving my new one a go this weekend with my Daughter.

Get a few snaps up Chris or a link to the blog, interested to see your results!

I will put up a full post when the couple are back from honeymoon and have seen the photos, but will get a few generic ones online on Sunday. As if a wedding isn't normally pressure enough, Fuji UK and Fuji Australia seem to both be keeping a close eye on what I'm up to now.

X-T1 Graphite firmware updated (I had assumed it was up to date, but the Graphite seemed to have an odd 'in-between' firmware with new features (Electronic Shutter) but not others (direct AF) when it was released, 7 batteries charged, 162gb of memory formatted...I'm good to go!

Good times mate. Enjoy! Assuming you're back to shooting RAW for this?

Yup, don't get many of those on a 16gb card! Dual card slot would be very welcome on an X-T2, particularly as it seems to have quite a take-up in pro wedding photographer circles now.

Good luck! I definitely think moving it one click to f1.4 helps. There's not that much in the dof compared to 1.2, but I somehow trust the images it makes that bit more!

I do take good images with my d750 I didn't say I didn't.

Just I think but not rushing into it. I may like the xt1 as a one system and for it live view as they instant

What language is that? any chance of a translation.

Rude.

Andrew, if you can afford to buy the x-t1 and 18-135 then buy it and see how you fare with it. You can then make a decision for yourself and sell one at your leisure. Either won't struggle to sell and you can then be certain you have given it a fair shot rather than a quick 5 minute hands on in a shop.

That is my though is to try afford a 2nd hand one then I won't lose on it really. But me I always like new as am like a kid lol.

But this time round I think I go 2nd hand.

I plan to get

Xt1 with 18-130 if get on with it then a 27mm lens

Well the 27mm will make for a very compact system indeed! Will be LOADS smaller than the D750 for sure!

The x-t1 and 18-55 will be more affordable if that's the way you want to play it. You can always sell the 18-55 and buy the 18-135 when funds allow.

One has just sold for £825 in the classifieds.

not happy! ....been waiting since April 21st for my 23mm from DR... seems a bit long for something that was "marked" as in stock and ready to ship in 24hrs
would have made more sense to put ready to ship in 3 weeks!!!!!:arghh::rage:

I got mine yesterday - then got the email to advise it had been shipped today!

Is there much difference in quality between 18-55 and 18-135 kit lens?

That 23mm lens a cracker but big money.

Your images are just fantastic do u mess much with camera are most your images keepers

Plus how u get that light effect on your daughter?

I take a few test shots for exposure and light fall off etc with my 'ball park' settings and then that's about it. I take a lot and they're all 'ok' so i just pick the best ones out and process them. I take a lot to ensure i get a nice decent pose from her as she is always moving.

Ah off camera flash which one so u need a wireless trigger too?

Huge crop from a 16mp image wow

Huge crop but a good clean image no good for a picture frame on wall unless it 4x5

Anyone here had the 18-55 and 18-135
