I have switched from a D800 to an XT-1. Sure there is a difference in image quality but I guess that is the case with any camera you compare with a D800. When Nikon brought out the DF I was really excited and was looking forward to replace my D800 with it but when I held it in store it just didn't feel right and my lovely Sigma 35mm F1.4 ART didn't balance well. The XT-1 is exactly what the DF isn't for me and coupled with the amazing 23mm F1.4 and 14mm F2.8 you just can't go wrong.
Fadi, thats good to hear - I'm not expecting to replicate the IQ of the D800 but if I'm honest with myself I don't really need the 36MP - I'll miss the low light performance but most of my low light stuff is done on a tripod at ISO 100/200 anyway. I'm going to make a fair amount of cash selling my D800, 16-35, Sigma 35mm and Nikon 50mm and have plenty left over by the time I've bought an X-T1 and 23mm.
Really looking forward to getting it - I briefly had an X-Pro 1 in 2012 and loved the image quality but hated the AF (which is much better on the X-T1 I understand) so I know what I'm getting and frankly I'm hoping it will allow me to enjoy my photography a bit more - I've liked using the D800 but its just too big and heavy for me to be able to take all the time - will miss full frame but I might actually give a used Sony A7 a try if I see one being sold - looks a cracker from an IQ / Low Light point of view but not enough lenses yet!
