I do have one or two at about 1600. I normally photograph everything at the lowest ISO possible, even if that means using a tripod. I'll take a couple of people at 1600 and 3200 tomorrow and ping them across to you you.
 
First image shows the 'manual focus assist' on Fuji X-T1 with Zeiss Touit 50mm f/2.8. Subject is my Libya UN medal. Although the AF is excellent and very quick to focus, the MF enables you to define your required focus point. This isn't so
important when the subject is on a flat plane, but more prevalent when the surface is bevelled or uneven such as the flowers I shot yesterday. I hope to try some focus-stacking next for this subject.
The £20 was shot at f/22. I'm quite impressed with the depth of field which has rendered not only the coins but the £20 clearly.

I had a go at face detection focus on my xt-1 today and I wasn't impressed. I mean the camera did lock on faces but it wasn't quick and if the person didn't look straight at the camera it struggled to lock focus.

Not tried it yet,but did read somewhere in a review it wasn't the best out their :)
 
What is limiting about the face detection on this camera is if you have it activated then you can't change size and location of the focus points :( I hope Fuji gets that fixed in a firmware update
 
I think it's ok and it works but I have never used FD on any other camera so don't have a bench mark to compare it to.
 
Just read your post above, if you want to be able to change focus points then face detection needs to be off. I just switch between the functions using the Q button.
 
Yes you have no control of focus points if face detection is on,
it's okay but I've used Panasonic and Olympus m43 cameras and the face detection was far better on them but the AFC is better on the X-F1 which was one of my main and annoying bad points of my M43 gear previously.
 
I think focusing is very good by-and-large, I'm impressed with the ability to drop the focus point anywhere on the screen, even the bottom, left-hand corner if you like !

In this image of the 'Shambles', York the AF point was on the stone brick before the down-pipe. 10mm (10-24mm),ISO 200, f/4 @1/250s

I don't tend to use FD that much to be honest so not going to worry about it that much. Other focusing methods are great.

Just been back from holiday and I have enjoyed using this camera so much with the great Fuji lenses 14mm, 23mm & 55-200mm - so far -
 
Does anyone know the contact number for Fuji UK warranty, repairs and support? I have contacted them via their online forum but haven't got a reply yet. I can't find a number on their website. Thanks in advance

With the manual focussing aids available in-camera, I find it to be excellent for focussing my M-mount lenses including a 50mm f/1.5 wide open so shallow depth of field. I'm mostly using focus peaking with the dual display mode. Sometimes, I'll switch to full screen if the subject is moving.

Thats good to know - I used to find MF with my Olympus EM5 to be a bit of a pain and while I don't have that many lenses that would be MF only it good to know that there are better options available now.
 
There are about 3/4 differing MF options which are very good. I haven't even found the dual screen option yet but am aware of it.

What I really like about the X-T1 with its ISO dial, speed dial and aperture ring on the lens, combined with the MF is that it's just like using my Nikon F3 in the 80s, albeit a little smaller in size but with all the benefits that digital has to offer.
 
After a couple of weeks of daily use in a variety of scenarios and events, I'm very pleased to say the X-T1 has performed brilliantly and it's done it with a fraction of the weight of my DSLR kit.

For me, responsiveness is key as I tend to shoot moments as they occur. Definitely bagging shots which I would never have been able to capture with my X-Pro 1. It's like I can forget about the limitations of the camera and just shoot whatever I want.

Also, I reported my screen protector issues to Expert Shield and they've sent me a free replacement under their lifetime guarantee.

The 18-55 kit lens is very very good. Definitely get it.
 
The 18mm is a bit pointless, in my opinion, unless you really want the smallest 18mm XF lens in the range. The 18-55mm is a relatively fast f/2.8 at 18mm, the AF is fast, you've got optional image stabilisation and it's sharp.
 
Its my fav lens the 18-55mm and you can pick them up for a good price,also hopefully the new 16-55 F2.8 will be with us soon :)
 
Can anyone confirm if the high iso raw files on dpreview are the results they're getting? They look incredibly clean and seem to take a sharpen really well.

The only reason I m not getting the 18-55 yet is because I m waiting to see how good the 16-55 will be and obviously how much it is going to cost

I believe this is going to be launched at Photokina in September. Fuji love to have something to showcase at these events. Wonder if they will have any other surprises. The X-T1 caught a lot of people out before just before Focus at the NEC earlier this year, or whatever it's called now.

I'm sort of buying another D700, but if I can get in the ballpark IQ wise with a smaller system it's a win for me.

Just a reminder that the Fuji stated ISOs are about 2/3rds more exaggerated than other manufacturers like Nikon E.g. ISO 3200 is actually closer to ISO 2000 on a Nikon (if you download the images from DP Review at ISO 3200, you will see the D610 shoots at 1/13th second at f/5.6 whilst the X-T1 shoots at 1/8th second at the same aperture at ISO 3200).

The 18-55mm is not your average kit lens. It's very sharp but the metal build quality and aperture ring take it to the next level beyond Nikon or the Canon standard.

The 23mm is also very good, beautiful bokeh at f/1.4 many consider it to be the best of the Fuji primes together with the 56mm. If you flick back through the pages I have posted a few examples taken with it. It certainly is a very useful lens 35mm equivalent it's generally regarded as what the eye sees. It's my personal favourite in my bag for the speed and quality.

Yes, I'm aware of that. I rarely go above ISO 1600, but the files from the X-E2 (my preferred body, actually) look fantastic all the way up to 6400.

Hi Chris where did you order yours from, think I'll be placing an order over the next few days, just need to decide which lens (10-24 vs 14mm prime).

Was thinking of ordering from Panamoz and saving a few quid.

I've actually taken the somewhat unusual (around here anyway) approach of ordering UK Stock from Amazon - about £100 more than a Grey import but at least I've got warranty/etc.
 
I have switched from a D800 to an XT-1. Sure there is a difference in image quality but I guess that is the case with any camera you compare with a D800. When Nikon brought out the DF I was really excited and was looking forward to replace my D800 with it but when I held it in store it just didn't feel right and my lovely Sigma 35mm F1.4 ART didn't balance well. The XT-1 is exactly what the DF isn't for me and coupled with the amazing 23mm F1.4 and 14mm F2.8 you just can't go wrong.
