The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

I once did a bikini shoot on a beach in Wales in the middle of December at sunset. It was about 5c. The sky was blue and had a great colour lol.
That just sounds Sooo wrong :ROFLMAO:

I remember we had a McDonald's in my car afterwards and had the heated seat on max because it was so cold, her more than me.

While drifting around London, I came across these “Empty Grubby Alley Steps” that I figured was worth a Snap. I deliberately gritted up the presentation a bit because I thought it suited the subject.

Oh how times change.
Usedlens shows 49/50 X100Vi's for sale from dealers, plus some on the bay.
Nearly all below the new price.

Gannet at Bempton.

I visited Bempton for the first time.
It was a foggy morning which added a lot of atmosphere. I had a 24-70 so had to be patient for close-ups. Great day out. The viewing platforms were busy though. Got to see plenty of puffins, a first for me. Looking forward to to returning soon.

Lovely shots. I've just seen another thread about Bempton and there were no puffins in it; I was wondering when the best time to see them is. I really need to get there!

Thank you. I’m no expert but on the seasons for Puffins. There were plenty of them, but I didn’t have enough reach with my set-up.
If you can’t see them there are plenty people happy to point them out. This happened, a lot :)

Now is a good time but Bempton isn't necessarily the best place to see them as they are generally few in number and more difficult to spot.
A very short distance down the coast is Flamborough and it can be easier to see more Puffins on the cliffs there - however for the best Puffin experience in that 'area' it has to be the Farne Islands. Even if you spotted no or few Puffins, Bempton is a great experience for the Gannets and other seabirds & other species (first place I ever photographed Tree Sparrows).

As it should be, I hope MPB lose a shed load of cash having tried to rip people off.

This is purely down to the US market tariffs kicking in, once the surplus stock bound for the US is sold across the rest of the world things will settle down again.

Thanks both :)

I've bought a new UK Fuji 70-300 a few weeks ago, (saving weight over my Nikon zooms) but I don't like it.
So, if anyone is interested, let me know and I'll put it up for sale. As new condition (it is new).

Any thoughts on the X-E5?
Depends on if you want a rangefinder form factor Robert. I believe (stand to be corrected) its roughly a X-T50 in a different form factor.
It seems rather expensive for what it is but the only other option for a rangefinder with interchangeable lens is the X-Pro series. A used X-Pro 3 is roughly £1200 without a lens and when the X-Pro 4 does arrive I would imagine that would be close to 2k.
No doubt it will be a very capable camera and if your set on a rangefinder and you want to swap lenses it makes total sense.
It seems a price increase is coming for a lot of Fuji stuff as well.

John Lewis is still promsing delivery on the August the 14th as well

Peter - please do not advertise your gear in the forum - all sales must go through the for sale section of the forum.

I'll send you a DM :)

And please don't offer to buy things when someone does this.

Thank you for your understanding gentlemen. You have probably seen the note about scammers and hijacked accounts, and we'd like to keep TP a safe place for trading as much as possible.

You can still sell it. And you can still buy it.

I think it just has to go through the classifieds section :)

Could you expand on why you don’t like it? It’s my prime (or should I say zoom ;) ) candidate for upgrading my XC 50-230

I’m comparing to my Nikon wildlife gear. It’s an attempt to save weight. Which it does.
But the af is not up to Nikon standards.

As a walk around it is fine. But I have other gear for that purpose.

I’ve been frustrated with Fuji AF recently. You rate the Nikon gear for that? I know Sony is pretty good too

Yes well the Nikon z8 and to a lesser extent the Z5ii are noticeably better.
The Fuji 70-300 as well as being lightweight has pretty good mfd, which is handy.
Just because it does not suit one person do not dismiss it.

Super fast AF is not Fuji’s strong point, but it can be quite quick if you learn to trust it, try mashing the shutter button rather then prefocus/press
Focussing at all would be nice. Number of times an X-T50 with the new 16-50 kit lens misses static subjects in the near ground is unacceptable IMO

Having recently decided to pick one of these up from WEX tomorrow, this was exactly the sort of thing I didn't want to - but probably needed to. I hadn't read that focussing was a problem with these - Back to the drawing board I guess.

Must admit. I have not noticed this issue.
The only time I have had this is if I have knocked the focus point off to the side, which I have found happens a lot

I got a Tilta grip/cage thing. Always wanted a wooden grip and this seems like the best one. Some hit and miss accessories though. I didn't get the pack with the top plate as I want to use the hotshoe for the X100VI.

Beautiful packaging, not using the leather strap buttons it comes with as it has a metal screw/button on it. Also not using their Thumb grip either as the Smallrig one offer better clearance to the dial and tighter fit.

I also finally got a YC Onion Square hood, after researching lots, this one is metal, with cover, allows for the ND filter to be fitted AND it lines up without any additional tool/screw into the side.

Acra Swiss plate at the bottom, access to the battery but the access to the front dial is slightly recessed, so will see how I get on with it or I will go back to the Smallrig leather case.
