Hi all, have checked with the mods and this is the first thread (a second to follow when the journey starts).

Quite a simple premise really, just to see if we, as a community of photographers, can create our own record of this once in our lifetime event this summer.

The idea is that this thread is to discuss the travels of the flame and once the journey starts open a second for our images of the journey, with photos from as many locations on the route as possible.

http://www.london2012.com/olympic-torch-relay

is the link to the route planner. I will be photographing the flame on its journey into Spalding Lincs. on July 4th.

Would be fun to see how much of the U.K we can cover.

Hmmmmmm, could be interesting I know it's coming through Bedford so could do that.

I can't decide though whether I'm excited or not about it though to be honest, I was always under the impression that it got carried by "runner" from start to finish, but when it was announced locally, the route shows it coming through Bedford to the other side, then being driven to it's next destination less than 2 miles away.

It feels a bit like when I discovered Jools Hollands Hootenanny is actually pre recorded about 2 weeks in advance.

If I cared enough about the Olympics I might.. but I don't..

Although a colleague has been told this week that she's one of the torch-bearers.

Tuesday 12th June it's coming through our little village (Abernethy) so I'm hoping to get some shots.

Is this it? :D

Can I just remind everyone that this thread is for discussion on where the torch will be and when, taking photos of it, and perhaps even arranging a meetup with fellow TP'ers if you happen to be near the same bit of route.

If you have no interest in the Torch, the Olympics, or want to debate the issues surrounding them, please do start another thread in OOF and keep this one for those that do want to be involved.

Thanks All

Will be shooting it when it comes through Skipton, might also pop over to Bolton or somewhere as it passes up there a fair few days before it gets over here.

Yep, it's coming past my village so I have booked the day off to get out there with my camera :D

If anyone in the Vigo area wants to come along, give me a shout. It's on Friday 20th July, in the morning

Well, that's a start, got a bit of time yet:)

It's coming past my office in Southend, making it my annual 'bring a camera to work' day.

what a kill joy!
Whilst I've never been a big watcher of sports on TV, I think the publicity around this years Olympics has done more to turn me off from it.

That said, the torch is going past my house, and I have a high front wall so I'll have a good vantage point.

Hopefully get some shots in passing through Rochdale, a Saturday too! How kind!

I'm hoping to get some photos as it passes through Burton-on-Trent, although not to happy about the 7:30am start

It passes my work on the 13th of June and i'll definitely have my camera at work that day. An ex work colleague of mine is also on of the torch bearers on the 13th so might try to get some shots of him with it.

Goes right past my place of work on May 22nd (Trowbridge, Wiltshire), I've asked if we can pop out and watch/take pics.

16th June, coming down the coast to Sunderland, past the National Glass Centre. I'm thinking long lens, other side of the Wear estuary, or maybe from the Monkwearmouth bridge ('town' bridge, locally) or the rear of the Echo 24 building.
It's a Saturday and I'm off work :)

1st June for me, Knotty Ash, Liverpool. Should be around 4pm so can take the kids along aswell.

I may be able to get to Bishop's Stortford or Chelmsford, but I can't seem to find any information on times. Does anyone know where I can find this information?

Going through Cornwall on 19th may, I may cover one of the middle points (somewhere between falmouth and bodmin).

29th June. Derby. I will be there, assuming it's there on my work time - it's a bit difficult to tell what time it will be about.

Joe, if thats the same day as the route through burton then its 6:00am. I think its going through Derby on the Friday evening, so that might be worth a trip up rather than the ungodly hour into Burton on a saturday morning

Going through Preston on 23rd June, so will get some photographs.

It comes straight through the village I live in, and passes the end of my street twice.

2nd July Wellingborough I should be free in the morning to get some pics

going past the end of my road, so I might be up for the challenge Mark :)

It comes through Boston on Wednesday 27th June so if i have or get that day off work i shall be there with my camera :)

Its coming past the end of my road in July, at 7:30 in the morning!
I'll be there to try to get some shots, hopefully there wont be huge crowds at that time of the morning. Short set of steps just on case I think...

I should be there 24 th June huddersfield

going past my place 24th june my day off two sunday will post
