Likewise, we have something different every year. Lamb this year. I ordered it from the butcher yesterday, but I never have to cook Christmas dinner, only turn up and eat it :)
The only time we ever had turkey was when I won a defrosted frozen one in a clay shoot............

3 bird roast - turducken! Mrs Nod will be making a butternut squash based veggie option which will be the extra stuffing.

Had a nice roast turkey lunch on Thursday at the golf club.

I've never got on with those multi-bird roasts when I've tried them, they seem to end up as some sort of ambiguous 'meat' on the plate and I'm not sure what I'm eating!

Most supermarket meat is like that! It's only 2 of us eating it so a whole turkey would be waaaay too much and would see us through to next commercialmas in curry. Mrs Nod's Mum chose it from a selection we gave her (including a chicken and other roasts) since it's vaguely seasonal and not what she'd cook for herself. At least if it's not great it'll serve as a carrier for the veggie option. TBH, I could happily ignore the "festive" season but the excuse for excessive consumption is (I suppose!) welcome. :D

Big family dinner for 60 in a hotel in Dublin..... used to be over 100 attending - the ravages of age is reducing the guest list....

Menu choice is turkey/ham/beef with all the trimmings....
A good day for sure and a chance to laugh but toast the 5 who passed this year.

Enjoy your big day everyone

Turkey. (y)

We've had goose a few of times, (remember my Gran doing it when I was a kid) which I actually do prefer for the main meal, but I lurrrrve the turkey sarnies

5 or 6 years ago when we were having a lot of family over, we asked our local butcher to make us up a large multi bird roast. He did 7 (turkey, goose, duck, pheasant, partridge, guinea fowl & quail) & it really was good!

I go out to the local Loch Fyne restaurant with my elder son and his wife. My main course is always the Dover Sole.

Turkey here. Large breast.

As I'm on my own the family across the road from me invite me over every year :) - the men do the cooking and the ladies have the day off and believe me the men are superb cooks:D

For the last two years we adults have each had a poussin and the 2 kids have shared one . This year I'm told it will be something different - no hints have been dropped so I'm going to have to wait and see :D :D

Chicken for myself and the kids whilst Mrs Stupar has a seperate veggie christmas dinner

Roast lamb for us this year, with all the trimmings. I will probably make a nice cauliflower cheese (use a fair bit of mustard in the roux), brussels roasted with chestnuts and a little smoked bacon. Not sure about dessert, maybe one of two puddings we bought last year, with proper custard. I was going to make a coarse pate (great with homemade crusty bread) but I still have man flu, so even surviving til Christmas day may be a trial of epic proportions:)

Due to our ‘odd’ family Christmas arrangements, it’s a good quality corn fed chicken for Christmas dinner for just the 2 of us.

Boxing Day, with a growing number of people has now become a choice of menu (I cook one, the wife cooks the other) so it’s slow cooked lamb vs beef wellington.

Turkey, as always! I have been getting a Kelly Bronze for years now and because they are true free range and live longer, they cook quicker and not dry. Did get a crown last year but back to the normal bird. I have often done goose as well but while the fat is brilliant, prefer turkey and there are only 6 of us.

Kept the same dinner for 10 years or so now, roasties in goose fat, a couple of stuffings (normally M&S but may make one this year), red cabbage, roasted parsnips and carrots, kale, and sprouts with chestnuts and bacon. Obviously with bread sauce and cranberry sauce and pigs in blankets and chipolatas.

I normally cook most meals totally from scratch but at Christmas I do somethings and just buy M&S for the rest as things like stuffings and bread sauce and red cabbage are just as tasty and easier than making.

The majority of our meat comes from a local small holder, so we're having turkey from him as usual. As the kids are home we're currently eating up some of the larger lamb joints we have as well as we get lamb and pork (and eggs) from him also. I have a ham to roast for boxing day to go with the cold turkey, then any leftovers will go into Turkey, ham and leek pies top be frozen for later meals, especially for my father in law.

Kids are doing their own thing this year, so we are spending it with my mum. We are having lamb for a change as don`t fancy having turkey sarnies for days on end :)

I have to say that Jamie's Turkey & leek pie is a great and easy way to use leftovers, as well as his Turkey con Carne. For sarnies (I prefer baguettes) I always make sure I have extra cocktail sausages and stuffing, add cranberry sauce and mayo and some leaves and I never tire of it!

I was in a gastro pub in wales last week, where they were using christmas meal leftovers to make Christmas burgers. Turger burger made from the meat, then all the trimmings, stuffing, pigs in blankets, cranbury sauce etc in a brioche bun

Sounds lovely

So long as there is plenty of chicken and Turkey breast for me, I am not bothered what everyone else is eating.

We are totally untraditional, we will be having hot & sour soup, crispy duck, fried rice and loads of spring rolls, samosas etc:)

Hmmm .....

I am now cooking for myself, Manfriend, his sister, his wife(!) who is coeliac, his daughter who is vegan and his son. I have only met his sister once for about two hours and his son ..... three times briefly .....

What could possibly go wrong? :D

So far he has bought 48 pigs in blankets ......

No tickets ..... but I do have a lot of wine ..... which may or may not help ....:D
Wine is good, what time is the kick off? and shall I bring my own wine or is that included ? :D
