Just deleted some pics - messing up the 'G' thread again - sorry

Ahh well, not to worry. It just makes things more interesting. I had something similar, Canon A30. Those cameras are pretty good, considering the poor spec.
Anyway shh, no more messing the thread up. ;)

Been tinkering with the G7X in the garden, on a cold frosty morning. Trying to photo the birds in the trees. I never ever use digital zoom for day to day photos, but the birds were pretty high up in the trees. I just wanted to see what they were, so I used the 17X digital zoom. Not sure what the 17X equates to, maybe 17X max zoom perhaps. Anyway, looking at the images now, and they look pretty crap. I would not bother using it again.

It's obviously a crap camera. I think you would be better off selling it. How much do you want :D

I would only sell it to someone would love it and look after it. Not someone who would keep it for a couple of weeks, and then want to change it for summit else. ;)

I of course am only joking with you, I would never sell it anyway.

PS

I know you are only messing. :D:D

Was it using this.....( these are the options on aG1X)

Looks like an extender effect rather than zoom....?

Was it grainy or out of focus or both....?

Yes, it was using the standard option. This gives the 17X zoom. I very rarely use it anyway, as it is only available in Jpeg, which I only use for street plinking anyway. Most of the time I am in RAW, and the digital zoom option is not available then. :)

When the 17X zoom is enabled, it will record video also. But the video looks very bad, and looks very blocky. So I would not bother using the digital zoom.

G7X ii £449 mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!!!

But I think Jessops have made a mistake - cashback is £40 not £80!

OK - The cashback is £80 for Black Friday week by the look of it.

It would be great if you could get it for that price. As I was just looking on Wilkinson cameras, and they have the G7X for £569.99 and £40 cashback.

Just a note if someone is going to buy one - get it direct from the Canon UK store. Cashback will be added at checkout and there will be a 2 year warranty.

Good thinking, I would never have thought of that. (y)

Yikes, note to self. Never buy new, get it pre owned and save a packet. But it's still lovely opening a brand new toy. :D

Out last night for a meal with the whole family, a rare get together, so wanted to capture the moment. Took the G7X, with the idea of getting some photos. Because so many of us, and all around three tables put together. It would have been difficult getting photos of us all in, so simply flicked it into video mode, and did a video instead. Even though it was a dimly lit pub restaurant, the G7X coped pretty well. I ended up with a lovely video. On these occasions I think a video can work better, than a lot of photos.

Been doing fun photos of the family, inside the house. Using the G7X, ISO set very high for a reasonably fast shutter speed. Shooting in Jpeg, at ISO 3200. The images look reasonably good, and they are worth keeping. :)

Unless one was wanting to shoot a specific type of shot that the G7 wasn’t suitable for,ie sport birds in flight etc it is quite likely as much as anyone would need.
Other than personal handling of course and wether a EVF is important.

The G7X does have continuous high speed shooting, been using it and it seems OK. Probably not too good for BIF, due to the limited focal length.

Anyone used a filter kit on the G7x? I see Lensmate make one but not easily available in the UK

I don't put photos up as they are of family members, taken in and around our house. So for safety and security, I tend to limit what I put up. I was just looking for a photo to put up, taken at a high ISO, just to show how it performs at high ISO. :)
