Sounds like you need a new laptop............................................. again
OK guys, so I need help here as Im struggling to take the shot I want.
I popped down to Canary wharf, Im not ashamed to admit I was inspired by a post from a couple of weeks ago, I think it was Merlin5, it was a lovely clear winter evening and all my photos are ****
View: https://flic.kr/p/2mGRhmR
My plan was infinity focus, but didn't think that through, the 55mm 1.8 has no markings (idiot, just grabbed it, cant remember the last time I used it)
Plan B, manually focus for around 50-60mts in front of me - too dark and it is water!
Manual focus then on the buildings - too dark and grainy on the LCD to be sure of anything - you can tell I don't use tripods often..
AF, tried flexible spot, wide, probably all of them while I was there, but 90% of all the photos are out of focus in areas.
I cant exactly remember on my focus point for this one, it was low down as that is where the most sharp areas are, but at F10 I was expecting more to be in focus, I think I will use the CitiGroup logo next time
8 second exposure was maybe too long for stability, will play around with that next time
I was also having a real issue with how to expose a scene like this as it is such a contrasty scene, at one point I had exposure compensation dialled down to -3, I think I was using multi
Im obviously going to have to go back, based on these results probably several times until i get it right, but Im open to advice on how to improve - actually replace open with need
I remembered to turn off stabilisation as I was on a tripod

The Best Cameras To Buy if You’re Super Rich: 2022 Edition | Fstoppers

I suppose maybe a Hassleblad X1D and just one lens could tempt me but maybe not. Maybe I'd buy an A1 but again, maybe not as I don't really need the bells and whistles. Maybe I'd just rush out and buy a Sony 40 or 50mm f2.5 G and a long lens, something in Sony mount to replace the 100-400mm I have for MFT. Other than that list of maybes I think I maybe already have everything I might want to rush out and buy.
Would you guys rush out and buy anything?
I wouldn't rush, but a 'blad X1D would be nice for landscape and people snaps.
Yes. It would. But what lens? A 35/40mm equiv would do me but I've no idea what that would be.

I am not really a fan of any of those people but you have really caught the opportunity very wellI was out in Leicester Square yesterday afternoon just beginning some street photography and I noticed this going on.

Turns out there was the UK Premiere of a new movie called 'House Of Gucci' with Lady Gaga, Al Pacino, Salma Hayek, Adam Driver and Jared Leto. I went away to do some street photos elsewhere and returned later and waited around for a couple of hours. Security had covered all those metal barriers so you couldn't see anything. There were only narrow gaps between the metal barriers plus hundreds of people around me all with their phones on selfie sticks. I held my camera as high as I could with one hand and took some shots. I did get to see Gaga once or twice through the gap in the barrier but most were looking up at my LCD screen and hoping for the best! I'm pleased they turned out quite nice since it was difficult to see much detail when holding the camera as high up as possible and the celebs were a fair distance away from me. Was quite an exciting evening. Lots of "Gagaaaaa, we love you!"Pity Pacino didn't come.

I am great fan of the cinema, but movie premiers aren't really for me. Been invited to a couple in past, but too many people for me.Thanks. I've never seen a movie premiere in the flesh, let alone with a good camera in my hand, so it was a real first for me, fortunate timing and great fun.![]()

Is that The Brenizer Method. Always fancied giving that a go and it makes for a really eye catching shot. The dof being at an angle is confusing me a bit but could be the camera held a bit squint. It works though as it draws the eye through to your good self.

Lovely dog! Just not sure about the other thing on the log.

Nice, I really like the Brenizer look
Really good picture. That separation you're getting from the background gives it such a 3D quality. Great focal length you used. I love the look I get with my 56mm which is basically 84mm.
