Only used it the once so far. I got a set of 4, but that’s the only one I tried.
 
How much did you pay?

I think my set of 3 Kood's were £27 but that was well over a decade ago. I've wondered if getting a better one might be worthwhile but I think I'm happy enough with my cheap ones.
 
£12.99 from Fleabay. An indeterminate make. One of them was loose in its mount but easy enough to tighten.
I’d be surprised if price improved or decreased quality. The only was to ensure quality is a dedicated macro.

I was about to put a 7gb folder of photos from December 8th in the recycle bin to make space on my hard drive but there was one photo I'd forgotten about so just processed it.

Went ahead and ordered a Godox AD100 there, hopefully with the small size I will be more likely to make use of it over and above the AD200's we normally bring to weddings. If it's any good I may pick up another couple.

I have one of these, bought it from Amazon for £262 I think it was - great to use outdoors and around 360 full powered flashes on one charge, be ideal for Weddings etc But NOT wearing Jeans I hope Tommy ? :LOL: :LOL: :LOL: :LOL:

Hopefully I won't miss the extra power from the AD200's but in truth I rarely use them because its a bit of a faff unless we have to shoot indoors because of bad weather or for the odd shot that needs them. My thinking is that with these being so small I would be more likely to use them, but we will see. That's why I only bought one as if I still don't use them much I can just use it as a hair light for the odd time we do break out the AD200's and AD600's. Worst case scenario I will use it on the dancefloor and just handhold it and shoot one handed.

I got mine from Lencarta as I had a discount code thing. Worked out at £276 with a spare battery.

And no I am not trendy enough to get away with jeans at a wedding. :ROFLMAO:

Great price Tommy -I used mine for hair light and similar for portraits and 360 flashes is enough for one outdoor shoot for me :)

Keep us updated, I often don’t use OCF until the evening outside so can get away with a lower power. Although there are times in summer I could dI with more power.

Nice one. Mine is definitely on the poverty express and still not due until Monday. They've moved it from one nearby location to a slightly closer one today, they are toying with me...

So I'm looking at the Sony system (A9 or A9II) and want lenses from 15/16mm to 200/300mm (200mm+ will be the 200--600mm and maybe the 1.4x). Not interested in primes for the moment or ultra fast pricey lenses and can happily work with f/4. Any suggestions please?

Possibly something like 16-35mm/24-70mm/70-200mm (or 70-300mm) ... I have all these in Canon EF but would prefer the proper mount but any make (AF)

UWA zoom options:
Sony 16-35mm f4
Tamron 17-28mm f2.8
Sony 12-24mm f4 if you can afford it.

Mid range zoom options:
Tamron 28-75mm f2.8
Sony 24-105mm f4
Sigma 28-70mm f2.8
The old kit lens 28-70mm is pretty decent the the money.
The Sony 24-70mm f4 has mixed reviews. Tbh imo the EF 24-70mm f4 is pretty much the only decent 24-70mm f4 lens but it's also larger. The mirrorless equivalents are smaller with inferior IQ in comparison.

Telezoom options:
Tamron 70-180mm f2.8 would be my choice over all other options in this range. IMO is better than the Sony 70-200mm f4 for not much money. It's also small than the f4, sharper, lighter and a whole stop faster. You give up on 20mm at the long end but considering its sharper you can crop a little without losing much

Also consider the tamron 28-200mm f2.8-5.6 zoom lens. It's a rather sharp superzoom and especially on a 24mp sensor you won't notice any discernible difference compared to even the more expensive Sony 24-105 or 70-200mm f4.

If you are mostly after zooms I'd suggest a 17-28/2.8, 28-200mm and 200-600mm setup.

If you don't want the fast f2.8 lenses here's what I'd choose

UWA - Sony 16-35mm f4 (possibly the Tamron 17-28mm f2.8 if you don't mind the loss of reach)
Mid Zoom - Sony 24-105mm
Short Tele Zoom - Tamron 70-180mm f2.8 (until Sony hopefully bring out a lighter up to date 70-200mm f2.8)

If money's no object then I would choose the A9-II over the A9 simply because the ergonomics are much better, also the dual UHS-II slots is handy.

Dual UHS-II cards are really important for such a camera. One of the reasons I am put off by the original A9.
The worst part is the body is locked from changing settings while the buffer clears. Of course Sony's fixed this issue on the A1.
Funny how £6.5K solves all our issues and then some :p

Actually they aren't, well not for the way I use mine anyway.

The buffer on the A9 is so large that you can get away with slow cards quite easily. Yeah you can't change settings until the buffer clears but its very rarely a problem.

I really regret buying the A9II, I should have just saved the cash and got another A9.

When I had the D850 with one XQD and one SD I wrote raw to XQD and jpg to SD, but I'm happier writing raw to both. YMMV.

my problem with writing raw to both is needing more expensive cards..

And now I have 160gb CFexpress cards to deal with - I've bought two so far, one for each camera - ideally I want two more in case they get full. I don't want another 4 more of them for back up raws, they cost £350-£400 each!

Using a 128gb 300mb/s SD card for jpgs that I never need remove should work.

But even with other cameras you can use half the size half the speed cards for jpg, that’s just a guess I haven’t done tests

70-350mm is really good but it's an APS-C lens.

The Sony FE 70-300mm is good but expensive for what it is IMO.

The tamron 70-300mm is also decent, cheap and light.

For me it definitely wasn't worth paying the extra for though.
The A9 is more than enough for my requirements too....

Cards are expensive for sure. I got some of the Manfrotto Tough UHS-II cards on offer so I'm all set, but the CFexpress would bankrupt me I think :eek:

I can't use the old grip so 'had' to go with the Mark II (y)

Things do change though.
When I had canon and nikon I used mainly 3rd party lenses and thought they were great, whereas with my Sony they're all Sony, and I'm delighted with the quality and see where the money goes, however a lot of 3rd party companies such as Sigma and Tamron have really upped their game in the last few years....

TC's are crazy prices these days :( I bought mine from Amazon, could pay it off over 5 months with no extra cost. The price is scandalous though :mad:
