Well you ain't going on holiday abroad any time soon so use that cash you would have used to go on holiday abroad for a new camera instead heheHaha, yeah just a bit of pocket change that [emoji38]
I couldn't care less what the menus are like, go through them an item at a time and set them to your preference, then set your most used to the Fn menu and the rest to My Menu. Done.
Would you like to run that one by my wifeWell you ain't going on holiday abroad any time soon so use that cash you would have used to go on holiday abroad for a new camera instead hehe

will be happy to if you run it past mine firstWould you like to run that one by my wife![]()
My missus thinks I'm still using the Sony a7sAh just buy it, they won't notice anyway. It looks exactly the same as all the others!

I must be lucky. It was mine who encouraged me into the 35GM!! Maybe because we aren't actually married possibly...? It might change then![]()
You got a lens.....I want a ring?I must be lucky. It was mine who encouraged me into the 35GM!! Maybe because we aren't actually married possibly...? It might change then![]()

I told you you needed one....I've done it and forgot and then realised that I'd shot everything in compressed by mistake. Not a major issue as you can't tell on most occasions. The A1 solves this of course by having lossless compressed![]()

There shouldn’t be any dark bits, unless you’re using flash or under led lights? Can you post examples? So, now I've had a chance to actually try out the camera and it's a beast, oh that AF! lol
The menus are actually ok, I didn't mind the A6000 so this is just a little more, er full? The favourite menu section will be a welcome area.
But, what's with the dark bits when using electronic shutter at the faster fps? Is that the roller shutter thing, because I thought the A9 wasn't affected by this and I also though that was video only? When I turn it down to medium fps (still fast) it goes away.
Rolling shutter won't fully go away until we have global sensors. So, now I've had a chance to actually try out the camera and it's a beast, oh that AF! lol

Do you mean the outer flashing box on the edge of the VF if so it's to show your shooting .So, now I've had a chance to actually try out the camera and it's a beast, oh that AF! lol

Technically even a mechanical shutter has the effect but due to their speed its a non issue.
You can definitely already make a global sensor but not suitable for a hand-held camera yet. Limited by power really.

Is it one big shadow or lots of lines like this? It's like a dark horizontal shadow which seems to roll down the images.

DSC06610-Edit by Anthony Andrades, on FlickrI still have some excellent quality legacy Pentax lenses.
They range from Super Multi Coated Takumars like the 50mm f1.4, 85mm f1.8 and 105mm f2.8 (All screw mount M42).
Also Carl Zeiss Jena 35mm f2.4 Flektagon (M42) as well as some later F and FA Primes.
I've bought a couple of M42 and Pentax K adapters to now try these lovely old lenses with my A7iii and A7Riv to see if they stand the test of time.
If anyone else has similar PK lenses I'd be interested to hear of their experiences.
This one shot this afternoon with the A73 and Pentax F 28mm f2.8. (The church clock obviously is not working!)

I know it’s the wrong thread but I can’t find any definitive info whether the R5 has blackout free shooting and no rolling shutter, anyone know?
Rolling shutter - yesI know it’s the wrong thread but I can’t find any definitive info whether the R5 has blackout free shooting and no rolling shutter, anyone know?
I thought I read/heard that both the R5 & R6 suffer badly with rolling shutter
Thanks for the info, I wasn’t aware of the DR issues. If it can do blackout free with the LCD I can’t see why the EVF would be any different?Rolling shutter - yes
For me equally big problem is how bad the dynamic range is with electronic shutter

As for blackout free shooting, I know it can do blackout free off the LCD screen but not sure about EVF (also can't find details)
But the electronic shutter is basically useless for most of my uses with the first two limitations.
They are higher res generally so maybe not the same. Perhaps it can do EVF blackout free too but I don't know for sure. Thanks for the info, I wasn’t aware of the DR issues. If it can do blackout free with the LCD I can’t see why the EVF would be any different?
Just had a look at that site, how reliable is it as I’ve just had a look at the A7R4 which that site shows as worse than the R5, and the A9-II is as bad as the R5 with ESRolling shutter - yes

Can’t help with video I’m afraid, but yes there’s a lot of different functions.Like one big shadow, but definitely confirmed now as being the LED lights. I tried it elsewhere away from LED and it was fine thankfully.
But now, somehow, I've lost tracking when in video. I'm sure I could focus on a head and then it would track it (with a green box), but tracking-af is greyed out. It will detect heads with a grey square and focus on the nearest one, unless I prod a different head in the screen.
I started setting up the custom buttons and was impressed with amount of customisation, but I didn't realise you could scroll to the right and it suddenly opens up a whole new set of other custom buttons, and then another page lol Jesus, how am I supposed to remember all these custom buttons!

I never actually realised that using ES affected DR, I take from this that you want to use mechanical for landscapes?
