Just thought of something against the Sigma 35mm f2 for video, I saw a video review and it had epic focus breathing.
I don't need 30fps or 8k video or wifi transfer either but i do want the rest of it![]()
Ok, I'm gonna ask, what's the deal with this Voigtlander 35mm f1.4?
phillipreeve.net
I’m contemplating going the other way, ie high mp R4 to lower mp A9-II, I could always get a 1.4TC if I find that I’m struggling for reach. I’m getting frustrated not being able to get many keepers of my dog, and I get frustrated with how slow my computer runs with 61mp files in LR.I use the a9mkII and can't see it been a Lot better but when you factor in the 50mp ( for birding ) that will be a Lot better but even if the rest is say 15% overall then that is what you are paying for .

Aye, I saw that in the written review earlier. Although, I'm probably not going to do any cinematic focus pulling so will it affect me?
I did have the r4 but kept reading about how the a9mkII was so much better at AF so bought one and tested both together in the garden and every time the a9mkII won and i did allow for a higher shutter speed with the r4 yes the MPs took a hit but what is the point of having 60MPs that often are soft .I’m contemplating going the other way, ie high mp R4 to lower mp A9-II, I could always get a 1.4TC if I find that I’m struggling for reach. I would just hate to get the A9 and still struggle to get a decent hit rate of Betty running and that it might be due to her having a black face and light body that’s throwing the camera off, and whether I’d miss the MP. The A1 is not on the radar due to price.
I like it.It's small and light and very well built and it's much better than the M mount version. It's sharp enough from wide open anywhere you'd place a main subject but the extreme corners are always a bit mushy, they do improve upon stopping down but are never really sharp like with something like the Sony 35mm f1.8. Other than that the bokeh can be wild with a complex background like foliage but with a less messy background it can be perfectly ok. It doesn't seem to be overly affected by flare, I leave the lens hood at home, or vignetting. Some reviewers say it's not at its best at minimum focus distance but I find it ok. I often carry a close focus filter and these improve performance as you can focus closely but without the lens set to minimum focus distance. It's one of my favourite lenses.
I must have posted a ton of pictures taken with this lens plus there's a thread here...
Another here...

Have you tried the A9-II with high speed subjects coming straight at the camera, if so what’s your thoughts?I did have the r4 but kept reading about how the a9mkII was so much better at AF so bought one and tested both together in the garden and every time the a9mkII won and i did allow for a higher shutter speed with the r4 yes the MPs took a hit but what is the point of having 60MPs that often are soft .
I soon sold the r4 .

They do make for great travel and landscape cameras for sure, but unfortunately I can’t afford two bodies so I have to sacrifice somewhere.I like a R3/4 for the MP in landscapes when i can travel again. I would be my travel camera. I think the AF will be adequate enough for what I need it for.

My a9 tracks everything.Have you tried the A9-II with high speed subjects coming straight at the camera, if so what’s your thoughts?
The other thing that I’ve noticed is that I can sometimes struggle to keep the AF point in the exact same spot when panning due to the blackout and feel the A9-II would help with this. What is the frame rate on the A9-II at Hi+, Hi, Med, and Low and do you still get blackout free shooting and negligible rolling shutter no matter what the frame rate (assuming electronic shutter)?

Anyone got any experience with the Sigma 100-400mm F5-6.3 DG DN OS?
Looking to buy a new lens and seems to have some decent reviews.
Cheers
This pidion was coming at a fair rate and head on 200/600 and many tests have been just as good ,i only ever use 20fps and no black out or rolling shutter you would have to google for the other rates as i don't knowHave you tried the A9-II with high speed subjects coming straight at the camera, if so what’s your thoughts?

Why buy something that depreciates as a doorstop?

Out of interest, what is the A7R3`s AF like in comparison with the A7R4 in terms of tracking subjects running towards the camera ?
Would a A7R3 not be a valid compromise and not so much of a step down from an R4 in terms of MP
I've got an 85mm f1.8 too.
Great lens for the money, but the 24-105mm is my most used lens as it covers so many options.
you missed out on the 10% off offer that was running last week at Wilkinson cameras on top of the cash back.I think this is probably the best one to start with as it provides the most flexibility and the OSS is going to be essential for video as I have no gimbal and Sony IBIS seems to be pretty poor. Can't believe how high used prices are for the lenses I've been looking at so just going to go new. I think there's £100 cash back which makes used prices even worse! lol

I think I got my A7 in autumn 2013. This was taken 17th July 2014 at 21:15, I think with a Minolta Rokkor 50mm f1.4.

She's writing a piece for school at the moment about her experiences since moving to the UK and one of the things she's writing about are the differences in the seasons and that it's still light at 22:00 in the summer. She might use this picture as I can't find the one she asked for.
That's a really good photo, Alan. Best of yours I've seen I think. Nicely processed.![]()

I've tried to find some like that but was unsuccessful but I'll take a look at DPR.Everyone has their own way of testing, dpreview for example test with man on a cycle.
Our test on this thread is can it focus on @snerkler 's Betty running at you![]()
TBH I had more success with the D750Yup seems a bit crazy to me. How did people get these shots with those old clunky DSLRs with 8 focus points.
Unfortunately the old body style isn't great for me.Out of interest, what is the A7R3`s AF like in comparison with the A7R4 in terms of tracking subjects running towards the camera ?
