Cheers Tom. It's the trying to work from home managing a team remotely and doing the home schooling that I know I'll struggle with. For a 5 year old it's going to seem like a hot of a holiday to start with. Plenty of people in the same boat though, and I'm thankful I still have a job and am able to work the way I can.
I can imagine.
Take a look at this: https://kidsactivitiesblog.com/135609/list-of-education-companies-offering-free-subscriptions/
You may be able to find something to keep your child occupied.
My brothers are in y13. They were all set i.e. expecting good grades, had offers from uni etc. Now no idea what future holds. Just hoping now that a year isn't wasted.
No online classes for then though.
I think my parents can send them to school because they work in hospitals. But don't think they'll.
Such a real shame, they will get grades though. Seemingly no exams will take place and no time will be lost.
My daughter is year 11. She went through a patch where she struggled around year 9 & into 10, grades really dropped etc. But she's pulled it around now and her recent mocks and parents evening were really, really good and easily enough to get her onto her college course that she had applied for. So proud of her for that. She's spent the past few weeks staying on at school - I've gone to pick her up at 7:30pm twice this week to take her home (both my kids live with their mum) where she's been working on her GCSE artwork..... She's doing a lovely clay piece featuring her face, her dogs face and everything related... And now for what?
I'd imagine they'd get their mock results as their GCSE's? At a minimum they'd have to surely? But the worst of it, she said she don't want her mock results because she was going to do better than that in May!!
Even I'm gutted if I'm being honest![]()
It really is a shame in situations like that. We have many in a similar position. Really feel for the amount of work and effort they have put in. However, it doesn't go to waste. They leave with the same values, work ethic, and knowledge that they would have done in a couple of months time. The only difference being that they won't sit an exam.
With regards to grades, we have no news how they will be decided yet. My personal feeling is that it will be a mixture of mocks/targets/predicted grades but no offical word as of yet. I am sure grades will be awarded fairly, taking everything into account. Mine certainly will if I have any say in the matter.
