Hey Guys, Question.
Funds can’t stretch to the a7r3 at the moment. Is the a7r2 still good enough to pair along side my a73?
On another line... I haven't had time for hobbies in the last few weeks and maybe as a part of that I've been thinking about the gear I have or want. I've been reading about the Voigtlander 50mm f2 which is arguably one of the best 50mm lenses ever made and I've soooo nearly ordered one but do I/we need all this excellentness when few people really need the last few pixels in the corner to be sharp at fx when pixel peeping at 100%+
I've never really gone for the very latest and the technically very best but even more than ever I'm thinking that 90% of this is GAS.

What does that mean? Not as good as it used to be..
What does that mean?
Surely it's still as good as it's always been.
Lovely shot. Is he yours?
Thanks, unfortunately not, he's SWMBO grandmothers. She has 3 rescued labs, lovely dogs.
very lovely indeed! Labs are great I must say.
We previously had a German Shepard.
Might look for a lab in the future![]()

It's YouTube, it's the internet, what did you expect?
You care enough to get upset about it to swear.
He really got to you didn't he?

Looks great - let us know how it goes. I don't think I'll ever invest so much in a prime (as I don't earn money from my camera gear, and don't have a specialism that merits a fixed focal length), so I'd love to see what you can do with it.
Haven't you bought that yet?
Seeing as you love the 35mm so much...... Can you not sell the 40/1.2 off for the 50/2? Or even the 50/1.2?![]()

That looks to be a cracking lens Anthony.
Got me thinking whether I should wait for the Sigma 24-70 f2.8 or go with this one.
I’m waiting the first quarter 2020 out to see what Nikon has to offer this year and if nothing’s in the pipeline I may well get the A9-II but we’ll see. Certainly nothing going to happen for a while. You need to switchZ gen 3 will be good enough.

Happy New year all.
What's your prediction for Sony?
A7s 3 will come out and I think a 500mm f4
A7IV could be interesting, especially if they add the new grip and better EVF.Happy new year lads.
Although not so happy start to the year for me, I am definitely not built for serious drinking any more....
Should still be in bed really but so much to do.
Would imagine the A7SIII and A7IV will both hit at some point this year.
Rumour site says their is a wide angle GM prime coming early this year as well.

The new grip is a given really as it is cheaper for them to use the same body style for all the new models. I don't find the new one to be that much different than the old one though, but I never had any issues with handling.
My guess would be the new grip, the evf from the A7RIII, real time tracking, ability to change the colour of the focus point and maybe dual UHSII card slots. Incremental upgrades like the other newer camera's rather then anything really new and exciting.
For anyone with an A7III they are probably better holding off for an A7V for a real upgrade.
At least Sony don't release incremental updates once every 10 years like canon. More like every 2 to 2 yearsoh noes sony have become canikon with incremental updates!!
tbh that sensor is still the best one as far as IQ goes. I see no reason why they'll update it.

I think the a7r4 had the biggest upgrade as it has a new sensor
