The Amazing Sony A1/A7/A9/APS-C & Anything else welcome Mega Thread!

I seen somewhere online that the Adobe photography plan might go on offer on cyber Monday instead guess we will wait and see, also bought another pair of Adidas trainers that's 4 pairs today. Need to stop :ROFLMAO:
You must do a lot of running :D lol

Can anyone explain the difference between the Real Time Tracking vs the A7iii?

Ive watched so many videos a lot are old and are on older firmware or don’t show side by side difference.

Typically what AF Area modes do people use?

Trying to get my head around the AF system whilst deciding what to do.

With real time you can use wide and just half press the shutter button and the focus point will follow the subject across the frame.

With the A7III when you half press it will only activate eye a.f or face detect if it can't find the eye.

I want to buy a pair of trainers but my feet and Nike are like peas and carrots....don't really wear anything else and not liking the deals on Nikes anywhere.

Like panamoz?

Slower delivery than Panamoz and only 1 year warranty rather than 3.

To be honest they aren't as good as Panamoz and I would normally pay the extra to go with Panamoz but that price was just too good and I was just about to pick up a U.K A9 from WEX for £3000 so made sense for me.

Yeah but you don't have the good one's, the best in class the 24GM and the 135GM.
I suppose I could off-load my zooms and go for all prime setup.... lol
24mm f1.4 GM
85mm f1.4 GM
135mm f1.8 GM

Naaaaaa :D

Is this cheap? ..... Jessops.... £549 @woof woof I would still consider splashing out for a A7 III, you've already owned the A7 and deserve a upgrade. ;)

Sony A7 + 50mm f1.8
Sony Camera Bag
Sony Battery (Extra)

Thanks guys. That's a good price but I think the 50mm would need to be sold if I'm not happy with the focus and I do have the excellent 55mm.

I'll give it some thought, repair v new A7 v A7III, over the next few days. Mrs WW birthday today and it's stopped raining and there's a blue sky!!! So we're going out for the day and a nice Thai meal :D

Read somewhere LR doesn’t support a9ii yet need to convert

Hi All,

Bit of help if you may.

I'm hovering over the buy button on an A7iii - upgrading from an A6000, so should hopefully see a significant upgrade.

Best price I can get it for:

£1899 - SONY a7 III Mirrorless Camera with 28-70 mm f/3.5-5.6 Zoom Lens - Currys
Minus 7.5% Perkbox vouchers through work (£142.46)
Minus £300 cashback through Sony.
Bringing it down to £1456.54 (£442.46 saving).

Quidco/Topcashback are currently doing decent offers on Currys, but say they won't payout if a gift voucher is used - which I think the Perkbox vouchers are. I will try though.

I also want the Tamron 28-75 2.8, which is currently £599 at Amazon - can anyone beat this on price? Already a good saving?

I'm stuck between deciding whether to purchase the A7iii as body only and then get the Tamron, or whether to buy with the 28-70 native lens. Seems as they almost cover the same focal length it could be a waste and the native would just sit there? Body only is £1755 - which puts the native lens at £144 - which seems cheap. And perhaps I'd leave that on more often and worry less about it?

I also think I'll pick up the SONY FE 50 mm f/1.8 Standard Prime Lens at £129

Does anyone have an opinion on any of this? Am I doing the right thing? I presume these prices won't be beaten for a while.

Sorry for the long first post.

Thanks,

Sorry I'm still confused by this, are you saying that real time only tracks the subject and not the eye(s)/face, but with the A7iii it does track the eye(s)/face?

I think I asked this before but my memory's shocking, with Sony can you have eye AF set in all modes (wide, single point, auto etc) therefore if you are in single point you can help press the AF point over the person's face you want to track and it will start tracking the eyes of that person? That would be really useful in crowds rather than leaving up to the camera which face to track.
