When usingh the A7 - Off for everything outdoors (the shutter is hardly noisy anyway) and on when i'm shooting equestrian indoors - but due to the available light the was always around 1/500.

I'd love a 35mm f1.8 macro (even if it isn't a true macro and "only" does 0.5x) for my A7 but there is a difference between 35 and 40mm and there are people who'd rather have either... and then there are those who'll buy the Batis because it's a Zeiss.

oops sorry, I meant to reply about the EFCS but forgot so I though you were talking about that.

AF-ON is AF-ON, my camera is always set to AF-C. AEL is set to recall override which overrides AF-C to DMF and drive mode to single shot.
Button the lens is eye-AF (post fw update adding live-eyeAF, I plan on setting this to APS-C crop mode).

The joystick press moves the focus back to centre.

On top: C1 is silent shutter, C2 is focus mode
C3 is touch sceen on/off toggle

On direction pad: left is drive move, right is AF tracking sensitivity, up display, down metering, centre is APS-C crop mode (post fw update I am not sure what to use this for)

C4 is IBIS on/off

Front dial is shutter, rear dial is aperture, centre ring is ISO.

Anything I missed?

Been thinking trading in my Sony 85mm 1.8 for the batis 85mm 1.8
 
I've used my Sony 85mm f1.8 in quite heavy rain and it survived.
 
Reason as people use to rave on about the batis lol

Prob best spending on a macro lens which I’ve not got yet
 
Which one focuses closest and is quietest while doing so, that's what might be the difference for me.
 
Thanks guys I’ll stick with my Sony one not going gain much by sound of it. 2 being I like the button on it as set as eye focus for when I use it for portraits

Its all the same. Batis has OS, slightly larger and heavier. Batis also has LED display on the lens for focus distance and is weathersealed.

Seems they are, [just checked the ol' reliable B&H - great for checking quick specs] they both focus down to 80cm and have similar magnification, I guess the next thing to look at is which focuses faster, most reliably and which is sharper. But close focus ability and silent operation would be the first factors I'd look at. After all of these things price is important too, all else being equal or similar. If you have a body with IBIS then OS isn't that big a deal

Haven't used my A7 for much studio portraiture yet, but did a shoot for someone today and very impressed as ever. Really would like an 'R' version to complement it at some point. Was toying with @addicknchips one in the classifieds all night, but decided I need to be a good boy. Anyway, quick one from today (the watermark is just for a little publicity as the mother had this one earlier as a teaser)

Been thinking this morning I’ve always wanted another macro lens so instead changing my 85mm I looked at getting Sony 90mm macro lens. Anyone got it?
 
When is the firmware update out for the A73? I thought it was initially touted for March?
