The look of resignation - why can't I get into that cabinet (see how big it is - it occupies the whole wall of the house)![]()
They look flat!Hehe
I had to get the firmware updated on both bodies so thought I would take a few snaps to ensure they still worked lol
The Sony Zeiss 55mm f1.8 is a great little lens.

The biggest advantage of the Zeiss is it's CA control, it has VERY little of it, it reminds me of how good the Canon 35L mk2 does in a lot of respect.
I can't comment how the Sigma focuses with the native mount but in terms of IQ, the Sigma does it just fine, I have used mine for 4-5 seasons in weddings and have no complaints, it is one of the best 50mm there is, so all of the sudden if I say the Sigma is bad would be wrong as it has produce images like this

But the Zeiss is better by a fraction though....at double the cost.
I picked mine up used from ffords for £1050 or £1110 thereabouts.
Riz you need to control your highlights better.....
I want an off camera flash eventually, what sort of price does this run with the controller?[/QUOTE]Bought some Godox today, it's still charging but built quality wise this is impressive. The charger too is well made with similar blinking lights to the Sony charger which sells for £85 !!!

Flash is £161, trigger is £60.
This is utter peanuts coming from the prices of 600EX-RT….
just watch out for the hot shoe mount as that is only bit that really lets the build quality down spares can be bought from ebay![]()
Not half some of the guys I know carry spare hotshoes around with them. Was talking to a guy a couple of weeks ago who swapped the hotshoes out 3 times at one wedding.![]()
What was he doing to it?!
Guest banged banged into it and then he hit the flash on a doorway or something like that. His second got a whack during the first dance.
The godox stuff is great by the way but the hotshoe for Sony is very suspect. The slightest knock will rip it off.
yeah super simple to replace, the pins are a bit fragile as well i had the edge of one break in my bag, but a 1 minute change and was good to goLooks like its 4 screws and 1 cable clip and £10….might get a spare![]()
I did. Back in August to a pair of A9’s. Absolutely love them.
Batis 25, Sony Distagon 35 (which I absolutely adore), Zeiss 55 and Batis 85.
the 50mm f1.8 is only £180 new - so its not a bad shout and shouldn't be overlooked if you won't be using it much.

I read a load of stuff about the Sony and decentering. Got one anyway and it’s bang on. I love it. Renders beautifully IMO. Fast, accurate and solid.
If I keep Sony I think I'll pick one up. It's cheaper, has softer corners wide open and slower noisier AF than the 55mm but sharpness is there apparently. A9 users say the AF isn't too bad on that body. Worth a punt, at least it doesn't have the onion bokeh of the 55mm.
she's got the look by Jonathan Howes, on Flickr
squirrels!!! by Jonathan Howes, on FlickrThere's a secondhand one that I asked about yesterday. Their general tests don't of course check for decentering but the return policy is sound, I am tempted. I still have a bit of a Sigma stigma..
Why the Batis over the G Master?
If you don't look for the decentering you shouldn't find it. My advice, don't look! Once I saw it and saw it in other people's lenses I wasn't happy paying that much money for it (also horrible purple CA), was a bit gutted tbh. Nice smooth out of focus areas and good caf though.
Sigma af variation doesn't apply on e mount.

Really seems to be a mixed bag of opinions. CA is a bit of a pain but assume it's easily corrected, is it that bad? The rendering and AF are the big plus points which I'm tempted to have a gamble on.
The 35ZA Distagon.

The Godox page to update the firmware is a bit confusing. G1 and G2, and I can't seem to find the Mac OS version?
Is it windows only?
Taken on the Sony Ray? If so better looking colours. The biggest advantage of the Zeiss is it's CA control, it has VERY little of it, it reminds me of how good the Canon 35L mk2 does in a lot of respect.
