Price reductions on Sony bodies folks.
Sony A9 down to £3699 https://www.jessops.com/p/sony/a9-m...urce=uknewsletter&utm_campaign=sonynews010818
Sony A7R II £1599
A7SIII coming out maybe?

I know couple videographers who use A7S. They have a whole work flow set around these cameras. I don't think they'd switch to any Nikon on day 1 since it won't have any support. This is the main issue for me also, I'll have get new batteries, RAW editor, tripod supports, adapters, flashes etc. Too much hassle that I may put up with a year or two down the line but not right away.Maybe want to put some more nails into Nikons coffin![]()
Sure is..... I kind of knew the price would eventually drop like a stone, still happy with buying oneDamn, that A9 is dropping fast... be worth less than my A7iii soon.
A7rIII - £2900 with free rotolight.

The A9 actually comes with a free Battery Grip and Rotolight Neo II for that price (£3699) not bad!!

I don't see that listed?
Could work out a VERY good deal if you're switching. Are the A9's selling as well as expected? Nikon adopted that stupid pre-marketing thing on the last two big cameras (D850 got a lot of pre-release hype), although this one takes the biscuitSony is being very aggressive after Nikons announcement and with Canon still to come but I dont think Canon will have a stupid song and dance like Nikon likes, they will just launch it.

Yes but the user base for the Sony A9 is small and at the high end. The numbers shipped will be a lot less than the A7 series no doubt. They are selling well I believe

TBH I don't think you have to be a rocket scientist to know what Nikon will try and release, there's not much they can do over and above what Sony have achieved already. The biggest questions are what the actual performance will be like (ie whether it will be more like the gen 1 A7's or gen 3), what the ergonomics are like and whether it will be able to use f-mount well. I don't think Sony have a lot to worry about, they've got a very good system already. Nikon have everything to lose and have to make sure they nail it.With no new A9 series cameras and no A7SIII I wonder if Sony have a good idea of what Nikon will do and are ready with cameras in these lines to release at about the same time as Nikon?
It's interesting to follow the discussions on the Nikon mount being suitable for f0.95 lenses and the Sony mount not being suitable just as it wasn't suitable for FF and then not suitable for IS.
Dunno about being a rocket scientist but I do suspect that Sony will have a pretty good guess what Nikon are up to.
I do wonder why there's been no more A9 series cameras and no A7sIII so I'm just wondering if we'll see something about the time Nikon shows us or is about to show us something definite rather than rumor and FUD. Just by coincidence![]()

The A9 was only released a year ago, it won't be replaced anytime soon. Sony isnt replacing cameras every year, more like 3 years+.
jesus if Nikon's release is like a first gen a7 they may as well not bother.
it needs to be well up there competing and offering something over the a73. and to do that at a competitive price will be painful for them.
exciting time.
With Sony, more likely the a9 II.Damn, that A9 is dropping fast... be worth less than my A7iii soon.![]()

I actually think Nikon's marketing has been very clever. They're building massive hype through teasing the camera. Already people will have more or less made up their mind that they're buying it without any info on specs. This way they're already damaging Sony sales before having a product that's ready for market.

I think people should learn from the overhyped DF and DL.
Really, seems like they've been releasing new bodies every 2 weeksThe A9 was only released a year ago, it won't be replaced anytime soon. Sony isnt replacing cameras every year, more like 3 years+.
That's my thoughts, but I'm not holding my breathjesus if Nikon's release is like a first gen a7 they may as well not bother.

This nikon needs to match the a7mk3 as a baselinesI think people should learn from the overhyped DF and DL.
