Nerve wracking 10 minutes trying to update, failed first 4 times and left the camera as a brick but worked on the 5th.
No idea why it worked on the last try.

Exactly. This would be the sweet spot for travel etc - to keep size and weight down. I currently don’t have anything with decent reach, though. Carrying a 16-35/35/55 doesn’t quite cover me, now I’ve sold the 85. Dunno what to do!
On the verge.....
Waiting for Twist and Ohms definitive review......![]()

I was speaking to Wilkinsons. They currently have a £100 trade in bonus on the A73, but apparently this effectively is a Sony discount promotion of £100, so if you go through the ordering process this £100 can be automatically deducted (without having to do a trade-in) leaving the final price at £1899. The 1/2 price MC-11 and 3 year warranty still stand. All available until the end of April.
Also, for those on a budget, there is a £50 discount on the 50mm f1.8, so it now costs just £129! ... also until the end of April as I understand it.
Question for you though, on your FE 50mm f/1.4, how noisy is it? I've got one here, the focus motor is fairly quiet but the aperture blades are a bit noisy. Which seems not quite right...
From holding my eye up to the EVF I can hear the AF noises, but I can't hear aperture blades when I use the manual aperture ring above the ribbed clicking of the ring itself. If I put my ear closer to the lens I can here a little metallic noise
Just buy it. Return it if it’s not for you - that’s why we have distance selling regs, after all.
@twist - I rarely used my 85, that’s the thing. Carrying it around just felt like unnecessary space/weight that could be taken by something else. Unless I can find a cheapish 70-200/70-300 FE I’ll probably temporarily just adapt something on the Canon side. Got better things to spend my money on atm!![]()
Dont you already have one?Just the 2 of us!
Dont you already have one?
Brikkor 70-200mm f2.8 is a good lensI did have, but no longer have! I bought a Nikon 70-200 2.8e instead lol
that's not really why we have distance selling regs
Yeah I adapt a canon 100-300mm which i got for £20
Its reasonably sharp and rather contrasty too
IBIS works quite well

Parcelforce delivered the camera 30 minutes ago. UPS arrived at 9 am just as I was doing the school run, luckily they dropped the lens at one of their Access Points near my house a few minutes ago and so Iwent to pick it up.
More arriving tomorrow
I need to get an extra SD card and a screen protector any recommendations, please?
First time owning a sony A7 series camera?Lost nothing on the camera. Just was not for me.

Nice
Nice
I am sure the Sony A9 isnt too far behind in real-world situations.
Surely the one of the advantages of the EVF - WYSIWYG is that you don't over/under expose too much.
I agree...... even if you don't need it, its good to have on the days you do!Doesn't matter, extra DR is always welcome. I use as much as I can get, imagine a dark room with blinds open or a window, you can expose for shadow or highlight then push either way in post to recover. Or outside on a sunny day in the shade, you can expose for sky and push the shadows in post. You can paint in the light in shadows. Boosts creative options.

As for DSR - as you’re not in face to face contact with the retailer, and as such unable to check/demo/inspect the item you’re purchasing, you have a right of return once you’ve inspected said items. Don’t see what the issue is, there.![]()
Understandable, I was hoping for more changes than just the ones listed so figured it was worth the gamble (plus I'd rather it broke now than a year from now).

Its a GM lens. You can drop it from the Shard and it would make a dent on the roadI hope they didn't literally DROP the lens...
a try? you did already and did not like it, It wont change in the future lol wait for mk4 and maybe it will change to suit your needsYep, at some point in the future I might give the A73 a try, but the A7R3 - not for me!
It’s not louder than any of my Canon or Fuji lenses.
I posted a screen protector a couple pages ago I think.

so apparently the striping can be dependent on lens used. Maybe a good thing then I changed to the Batis 85 lol
