The Amazing Sony A1/A7/A9/APS-C & Anything else welcome Mega Thread!

Took this with Sony A7 & 70-200 F/4 with polariser last week down in Lyme Regis. Sunrise in the harbour was stunning on this particular morning

Couple more shots from Fuerteventura, edited on the plane on the way back (IOS Snapseed).

A7 mk1 and FE 50/1.8

I’ll add links to full size versions in a minute because the forum adds massive compression.

So, is the A7II still a good buy ?
Seen them used a good prices.
Fancy a full frame walkabout. Street and some Architecture. Are the jpeg any good. Probably use 35mm prime. Maybe 24-70 f4
I don’t have any Sony gear yet.

forget camera's what a night of results in football!
Couldn’t believe the Barca result, I’m hoping we draw Roma in the semis. Or maybe Seville can shock Bayern and we can draw them instead ;)

GAME CHANGER

I'd say so,

I've got a my first roll of medium format I shot, in a drawer upstairs - I couldn't even be bothered to send it off for processing.. maybe if I did and I might actually want to buy a MF camera :D

i think i'll do that today.. it's been a couple of years

100-400 on your xh1

@chrism_scotland why are you buying an a7rii when you have a xh1 and a7r3?

Because I don’t have an XH1, after trying it briefly I’ve decided its not for me and its gone back - not ruling out another XT2/XP2 at some point but presently while I think the XH1 is a great camera its just not quite there for me as a main camera.

Looking at an A7rii as a backup, possibly for a prime setup instead of my usual 24-70, and given I tend to prefer MF primes, the AF of the A7riii is overkill (so I don’t need another A7r3)

Makes sense then

A7iii stock seems to be a big issue after all. Amazon gone from shipping 11 April to delayed 1-2 months. So some dealers are definitely getting preference.

Don’t think any my local had any yet. When yours suppose to arrive.

It a very nice camera. For city scape landscape nothing that needs quick AF it brill

Thanks Andrew. What are the colours like. Jpeg any good ?

Received my Samyang 35 1.4 yesterday, not opened the box. No point with out my camera...... I have also ordered a CZ 35 1.4 though

Ill choose next week which stays.

If you have a look at Flickr both the Sony A7 and A7 II more or less had the same IQ / sensor output.
For me, the IQ from these 24mp sensor was good enough, I can't comment on JPEG as I always used RAW.
AF was acceptable in good light and its a pretty decent camera for the price, however there wasn't a big jump from the original A7 to A7 II in AF..... you do get the added value of 4.5 stops IBIS though.
The original Sony A7 represents good value too.

I though the jpeg was fine with it but I shoot raw. Tbh it a damn fine camera for a 2nd camera mate you be pls. The ibis is great too

Unless you need the IBIS, Id probably go for a MK1. As said, image quality is the same and AF wasn't improved that much.

JPG colour isn't as good as Fuji, but then no other camera is in jpg imo. Lightroom has some good preset colour tweaks for Sony now.
