The Amazing Sony A1/A7/A9/APS-C & Anything else welcome Mega Thread!

nice I've been interested to try this out some time

Camera in manual, 1 flash on the camera for fill, 2 off camera.

Manual exposure, ISO for ambient light, set flash power to 1/128 to start off with to test. bump it up as necessary.

You can see the flash going off inside here.

very cool, going to need another pair of flashes - those AD600 are probably going to be a bit cumbersome for this?

no not really. just set it up and leave it. speedlites are useful for mobility but for weddings u can get on well with the ad600 as you will have that set up before hand

Just thinking if anyone knocks it over then it's heavier to damage itself and someone else.. also heavier to carry from car - but it is what I've got so I could just use it :)

Is the sign level! ;)

Generally buildings a built level and can't be easily knocked wonky. The same can't be said for sign's durability. ;)

Show me what you would do with it pls

Anyone have their A7iii shipped? My mate is waiting on his from Amazon and their say in stock April 11th but who knows!

When the DJ or the band is setting up their gear after the wedding breakfast, that’s when you set up your lights too. Do this before they cut the cake.

Leave one flash on the body so in an emergency you can flick it to ETTL and bounce that for single flash. Flick it back to master when you want to use to slaves in the shot.

any position advice ?

Start it with the lights where the crowd would be standing, you always want to shoot into the crowd, if you have the lights behind you plus your fill, you will fire TOO much light into the subject. So at the first dance you would want the crowd in the shot and you stand where the band is and shoot that direction.

When the dance is over, you can put the flash by the band and shoot into the band.

Or you can put one either side of the room but never have both behind you.

You can put a diffuser on it if you want, I have some compact ones that works but I actually prefer bare flash.

If you’ve never done it before I suggest you don’t do it first time at the first dance....stick to 1 flash off ceiling ETTL and set up the lights for later on for dancing with the guests where you can fine tune them.

Makes sense, thanks

Just bagged a Sony Zeiss 35mm f2.8 for £350 :D

New?

I never fully warmed to mine, no matter how much I tried. I loved my Nikon 35 1.8, but the rendering on the Sony left me a bit cold. Maybe the Samyang 35 will be better, who knows.

I doubt it but it may work better on the A7iii when you get it? But i doubt it make an difference.

What others lens you got?

It *worked* fine, but the rendering wasn’t to my taste. That and it just didn’t open up wide enough for me. 2.8 is not the same as 1.8, unfortunately!

Ehh, sold my 28-70 & MF 85, G
Keeping the 55 1.8, 16-35 and adding the 35 1.4 to the 35 2.8 I have. I’ll buy another 85 at some point - but I rarely use it. I want to buy the 70-200 & I’ll pickup a 24-70, but part of me wonders if I should just go adapted. I’ve got an MC-11 coming, so I’ll give something a shot. Any suggestions welcome!

The 35mm was next on my list tbh but as you say it 2.8 as we more use to 1.8 primes h
