The Amazing Sony A1/A7/A9/APS-C & Anything else welcome Mega Thread!

I know there is an accessory on the hot shoe that can add a flash sync port, anyone know the exact thing I’m on about?

G Master, or Master of Poop?

Que lots of Sony 24-70 G-Master users posting comments about their copy is tact sharp etc etc.

Lucky for me I am no longer a 24-70 user, mine seldom comes out of the bag these days so even adapted is fine by me.

Next task is trying to find a good Zeiss 35/1.4.

Can any of you fine people help...

I’m currently a Canon user (5Dmk3 & 7Dmk2).

I’m looking at getting an A7R3, if I get the Metabones mk4 adapter, will continuous AF (AF-C) and high-speed autofocus work with my mk1 Canon 400mm f/2.8?

TIA

Put card in computer and press import in lightroom. Put card back in camera.

You always have to format the card after anyway, I don’t cut and paste...that’s dangerous.

In fact I don’t format the cards until the next job.

You have AF-C but I am not sure how well it'll work with your particular lens. You'll have to take the risk and test it first as I can't find many reports with that particular lens online.

p.s. I have a mbiv adapter for sale ;)

Been offered a brand new a7 for £540, not sure whether to join the dark side.

Mmmmm do they just have one available? ;)
Seems a very good price although Amazon’s lightening deal was epic!

never said there weren't sharp :)
just saying they have been optimised for better bokeh and rendering.

Of course, that’s one of the main G Master marketed spiel :)
0.01 micro XD element etc blah blah blah

Just the one. What was amazons deal?

I’m thinking A7 and a Samyang 35 2.8 (which doesn’t fill me with excitement) would be a decent family camera. Then I can build up lenses and make a swap after wedding season.

The a7 is good as long as you don't expect it to be similar to the d750. A7 and 35 2.8 is a very nice small setup.

Yes there are hot shoe adaptors available to convert the Sony multi something shoe to different manufactures flashes. these often incorporate a pc socket they can be found on eBay and Amazon for a few quid
I have one from eBay, sorry I can't be more specific.

I've been thinking that a 16-35 2.8 on one camera and 50 1.4 on the other - would be a pretty good team of lenses for a lot of wedding scenarios.

and other stuff

Depends on your style, for me it would be the 24-70mm f2.8 GM and the 70-200mm f2.8 GM as primary lenses. :)
For slower portrait based stuff the 85mm f2.8
For wide group, full room, some bride & groom shots the 16-35mm f2.8

I’m still hoping for 50mm f1.4 and 135mm f1.8 GM lenses in future :D

If I had two bodies I could put a different 35mm on each! :D

Hmmmm, you've got me interested.

Sony A7 III ;)

Talking about A7's...

Over on DPR there's a thread about MFT v A7III and I can't believe what people are saying about image quality. I've had MFT since day 1 and I like the system but if keeping one foot in the real world I have to say that compared to even my 1st generation A7 the differences are there to be seen if I go looking. Yes, when working on a MFT file in isolation it can look very nice and MFT pictures can get lost amongst A7 pictures but stop.... and look... even if you have to look carefully... and the differences are there.
