The Amazing Sony A1/A7/A9/APS-C & Anything else welcome Mega Thread!

The Canon battery cover has a window, there is a reason for that, on the back of a Canon battery is a blue label, the battery cover fits in both ways and one way you'll see the blue label, the other way you don't. So when I charge all my batteries I would put the battery cover showing the blue label, and when it's used and empty, I put it on the other way not showing the blue.

The stress for the mount is more to do with travelling, in case it gets checked in on a flight. One flight I had the latches on the pelican were BOTH opened, it must have been dropped or hit really hard. If you can avoid it, really should….just in case.

Ok, seems logical from canon but you’re still then fiddling with a plastic cap that you need to check/remove/lose so I’d rather stick with simple numbered stickers on each but I’m sure you can find a supplier of the caps for Sony batteries on eBay etc if you search for them.

If your Peli case is being opened (is that more likely than force of a drop opening both catches?), having the lens/body separate won’t make any difference I’d have thought?

I was just wondering about the Sony battery that's all, first Sony cameras and it looks very much like a Canon battery so thought they would do something similar.

As for the pelican, it has 2 TSA pad locks attached, so "being opened" is not really likely, otherwise it would have been closed back up with items missing. the latches were opened but the padlocks still on. So basically the case lid was kept shut because of the padlocks.

Sorry, kinda had to ask because you brought up the subject on how it looks several times.

Sorry!

I wasn’t even talking to you - I was responding to Rookies, so not sure why you think I repeatedly brought that up. I... didn’t.

Apology accepted. If you honestly think I care about people’s perception of me, would I be carrying around an A7? Nah, I’d be one of the red dot brigade. :P

Anyone shooting video with Sony cameras using external monitors? I've a small HD focus on order and they can't give me a date for it. Thinking of cancelling and going with something different

I am going to treat myself to their Canon Prima Pro 100S as £309 is an excellent price for a printer that gets great reviews. I have been tracking it for awhile now. £379 on amazon. Just a question of where the hell do I put it :)

I just got the canon pixma IP8750, works out at £144 after cashback. Its small, will easily replace my current lazer printer as the odd documents printer also. Supposedly produces near pro 100s quality, so we'll see :)

On train to London to try out the 35mm 2.8

I like to travel light so take just the one lens... I hope I like it.

Why are you trying to have an argument with me? If you don’t like my opinion, ignore me, instead of throwing personal insults in my direction. I stated from the very first post, if you like it, go for it. I PERSONALLY wouldn’t. That’s literally it. Eesh.
tbh, Raymond asked a perfectly sensible question and you seem to be the one trying to argue

@twist still no firm date but an email advising “week commencing 16th April”

Got that.... annoying. So taking my money and reserving a place is BS because most places will have them then.... Amazon says 11th. Nice bit of interest if they got 1000 orders.

Didn’t think they allowed to take money till dispatch for this very reason?

I have that printer, it does produce great photos. It's a big old beast, it's noisy and pretty slow but worth it for the end result.

I though they can’t take money out but can reserve it as in pending on your account.

Helps with their cash flow. Hopefully they honour the deal for those who added the cleaning cloth to get the extra discount

They must do, it was a promotion, I have tons of screen grabs just in case. Plus they've taken the money already for the correct amount.

I know it'll be the week of the 16th.... just need to wait, won't be any better off going elsewhere, cost more and probably be shoved to the back of the queue. Need to order lenses anyway. Am being tempted by another Fuji though after looking through my LR cat, just a shame they haven't updated the 35 1.4 and 56 1.2 with faster/more AF motors.

I guess just wait it out an extra week and see it as saving £300. I’ll be seeing my mate tomorrow so can’t put off making a decision any longer!

You'll end up suffering from stress.

:D

Should I ask the Mrs if she'll give you a Thai massage?

Just go for it, even if you dont keep it you'll make money off it. Price won't drop in the UK for a long time, to much demand for this camera.

I'll be interested to read what you think of the 35mm f2.8, I like it but from what I've seen and read I think you like to capture the moment a bit more quickly than my rather leisurely picture taking :D

I hope the f2.8 is snappy enough for you.

Might as well buy one ;) hehe.
I’m still thinking about the Zeiss 35mm f2.8....

It is IMO a lovely lens :D

The Mrs is off to Thailand in May and I'm disappointed not to be going with her but if I did I'd be taking the 35mm f2.8 :D
