The Canon battery cover has a window, there is a reason for that, on the back of a Canon battery is a blue label, the battery cover fits in both ways and one way you'll see the blue label, the other way you don't. So when I charge all my batteries I would put the battery cover showing the blue label, and when it's used and empty, I put it on the other way not showing the blue.
The stress for the mount is more to do with travelling, in case it gets checked in on a flight. One flight I had the latches on the pelican were BOTH opened, it must have been dropped or hit really hard. If you can avoid it, really should….just in case.
Ok, seems logical from canon but you’re still then fiddling with a plastic cap that you need to check/remove/lose so I’d rather stick with simple numbered stickers on each but I’m sure you can find a supplier of the caps for Sony batteries on eBay etc if you search for them.
If your Peli case is being opened (is that more likely than force of a drop opening both catches?), having the lens/body separate won’t make any difference I’d have thought?
