The official battery grip is too large, I literally just want that extra cm extension, without blocking the battery door.

I have looked at the Gariz grip (I have one for the Fuji) but reviews says the Lim’s are better made.

I probably end up with the battery grip for some jobs but generally day to day I like something I leave on all the time they make the camera slightly taller.

You're assuming they didn't use the money to guarantee the shipment.

Can't say for sure if they did but presumably you'd rather they got your business over Amazon?
 
I wouldn't mind one of those grips if it kept the battery cover exposed and gave you a decent place to mount a QR plate but none of them seem to tick all the boxes. Then there's the prices...

Make the camera a cm or so taller (not much thicker).
Leave Battery door exposed.
Keep Tripod mount centred.

Not £260 !

It seems its a lot to ask.

I've bought one of those leather grip in the meantime. It does what it needs to do.
 
BTW, where is it in the menu that can tick boxes what I can see (settings wise) on the viewfinder/LCD?

I think he means all of the info that appears in the EVF or on the back screen?... I'm sure there's a way to select what appears/doesn't.

That steps through a few different displays but I remember wading through a menu option which let you choose what info appeared in the displays but I can't remember what camera it was so it could have been one of my Panasonic cameras.

Anyway, remember never read the manual. Always just wade through and figure it out or ask another man. Reading the manual just isn't done.

BTW guys what screen protector your using on the A7iii which I believe be the same for the A7riii and A9
 
Since you have Peak Design too have have you got it set for your Sony on my DSLR i had it one on the lug on camera and one on the tripod plate as that to make it a sling strap.

TBH, I am not a big fan of it because the strap has the metal buckle, my preferred strap is just a simple leather one but the 2 that i have for my Canon I picked up in Hong Kong, not found the exact one on eBay/online yet.

For the sake of £6….not worth the risk, it doesn't affect the touch screen sensitivity IMO, not that the Sony's touchscreen features is anything to shout home about.

Never used the Touch screen on the Sony LOL all i found it does is for AF and zooming for playback

You wonder what that person who designed it was thinking when implementing the touchscreen….

Touch to focus on video - Yes.
Touch to focus on photo - No, don't let them.
Menus? Nope
Swipe? Nope

It's like they only had lunch time to code it and never bothered to finished it.
 
Buffer rate not that great on the a7r3 for fast action speedlites. Uncompressed was only 40 frames but took more than a minute to clear! But uncompressed was a bit better and allowing me to shoot 70 shots but still takes ages to clear the buffer...

Probably better to use the A7 III if you don’t need the high resolution.
