The Amazing Sony A1/A7/A9/APS-C & Anything else welcome Mega Thread!

nice.

Now mr @twist what will make u jump to sony again?

You know me, I like a new camera, I was kinda waiting to see what Sony delivered with this model before jumping onto the A7riii or A9 or whatever Canikon deliver but my guess is Canikon will announce this and launch next year.

I think Ill jump on the A7iii as want a hybrid, but I want to check out the pdaf issue a bit more. The A7rii didn't quite live up to expectations but it wasn't miles off.

Yikes, that looks pretty bad - as mentioned try the other one and see what the results are.

I'm off to hug my D750 and apologies.

it happens on the other one too, i can see it on the liveview as i take the photos and as i reviewed them, i can see the banding rolling down the images as i cycle them

You're both blind, the wall goes between yellow and blue, the yellow stripe goes straight across the pine forest in the artwork

Blinded by Sony. So much for banding not being an issue eh Jonney.

I think I might be disspointed if I jump. I really really like the overall specs and what it offers, but I dont think its a camera that will do anything for my equestrian stuff.

On paper is often different to real life, you'd need to try it first. You'd need to run both setups at the same time though, I don't think you'll see much benefit for equestrian.

honestly i have not encountered any on my a9. You can tear down my flickr account to see if u can spot any.

for a7r2 i could identify it easily

Unlikely both his A9s are faulty.

Not easy to run both without waiting for them to come out for hire, catch 22 moment!

Test at a shop, don't forget you can also buy and return within UK.

True! Would have to be the latter I guess as do not get many running horses in the shops!

Does the A7ii suffer with banding?

Prob why both got traded in at Harrison’s

I see banding in both? I'm asking the bloke who tested his 5d3 and a9 last year to see what light bulb he used

I don't believe they are both faulty.

I think Jonney and Riz showed that the banding could easily go unnoticed - it's a loss less pronounced than the A7S banding I used to see.

So I just think this is the limitation of the fix for the A9 series, perhaps it's even better in other artificial light

Was I? :) I heard it was so rare on the A9 it happens once in a million shots
Yes, I even posted a video ;)

But he's just shown that it's not present when using a mechanical shutter so why would it show up on the 5D3?

Did I miss that, I haven't lived in this thread :)
Thought I'd posted it on the FB thread as well tbh. Either way, not great that you've seen it :( Do you think it's a deal breaker? 14 day returns policy I believe with Harrisons used.

Not a deal breaker, because I knew there was a slim possibility, it's quite minor and I hope only happens in this lighting - it's just a shame it's happened 100% of the time I've used the camera ;) but that will change.

Hmmm... the concern would be what happens under mixed runway lighting in a few months.

Cameras are running 1.0, running 2.0 update - the 'automatically reset the camera' bit is taking an age.....

edit follow instructions and remove cards, and now it's faster
