:o why, isn't the Nikon D500 good enough?
What else have you ordered?

So selling up? Whats made you choose one over your D500?

Not selling up yet just keeping the nikon till i know what is happening and if the A7iii be a keeper or if I do buy it when I go and handle one.

I want it for

Live View for anything
eye af
AF spread across the sensor on FF
FF
light camera with a small lens on when want to go light.

Keeping both systems might be a good option to start with, just buy the A7 III with one lens to see if its good enough for you etc.

LOL I think it going to be a very good camera and answer everything I want.. I want to go back FF. I want fast AF this sounds ideal might not be as fast as the D500 I reckon on par maybe

Hopefully this be a good one

But as pointed out the CAF may not be up to the D750 standards, plus if I add a 70-200 apart from adding a huge lump to my credit card bill I will probably not be acheiving anything.

As for the AF spread, the D500 is plenty?!

It sure sounds like a good one from Sony but you haven't really used your Nikon D500 much to truly exploit its abilities.
What lenses are you getting, will you sell off your Nikon gear on here?

For me it looks like a great camera, but for now looking at lens prices (new and used) its just going to cost too much for a system that may not even work for me! Might still pop down to Park Cameras next week to see how they feel in hand!

Same for Rookies though! Price for the gear he has will not even get close to covering the same gear for the A7!

The cost to change to Sony is never going to be easy to swallow, because everything is relatively new, the prices are high especially the lenses.
@rookies How much extra is it going to cost you to move to the Sony A7 III and lenses, is it going to be worth it?

I have already a buyer for all my Nikon stuff a price been agreed it a better price than I would of got on here anyway..

Yes the AF spread on the D500 is great but I want to go back to FF and having that AF spread still on FF on the Sony is a added bonus

Well for me I am going for the following

A7iii with Kit lens as that be fine for walk about.
Sony 55mm
Sony 70-200 F4. Yes as I cant justify the price of the 2.8 as it not a lens I use Hell a lot it only when I go to the zoos.

One day a 85mm 1.8

Oh, was you in this club before @rookies I know you went D750 to D500? Did you go Sony somewhere between?!

The 55mm? Isn't that like £700?

You're both blind, the wall goes between yellow and blue, the yellow stripe goes straight across the pine forest in the artwork

So just out of interest - why is the CAF on the A7iii likely to be worse than my D750? I'm not up on mirrorless tech!

na i still cant see it lol man i need to wear glasses can anyone else see the banding? Also the image u uploaded on flicrk doesnt allow me to view in full res

I made it worse in Lightroom, by changing the yellows and stuff so you could see it more clearly.. I mean I could see it on the back of the A9 screen as it was

EXIF data shows you shot at 1/60th sec, UK AC power sources are usually 50Hz so your shutter freq is pretty close, what lighting were you using?
Easy solution is to adjust shutter speed?
