The Amazing Sony A1/A7/A9/APS-C & Anything else welcome Mega Thread!

I reckon this is going to impact sales of the A9 quite a lot.

Dual card slots might win D750 5D type customers

It probably will, hopefully Canikon will respond, maybe the D760 is late because they want to make it mirrorless.

That A7rii sensor is the danglies tbh.

For all the shortcomings the r2 has - the sensor is bloody incredible. I’m pretty sure* I will pair an a7iii with the A7rii now. Use the a7iii as a work horse and keep the A7rii when I want to slow down and use the extra res.

*have been known to change my mind once or twice

I currently use an A9 and A7RII. To be honest the RII isn't really used at all. Nice to know you have the extra res there if you need it I suppose

The rumor site is reporting the 9 Sigma lenses...

https://www.sonyalpharumors.com/sigma-announces-nine-new-sony-fe-lenses/

If they are / aren't DSLR lenses tweaked for Sony and with an adapter welded to the back may not matter to a lot of people but as I'm only really interested in a compact camera and 35/50mm lens set up I doubt there's anything at the moment in this Sigma range for me..

It would be nice if Sony release a firmware update to add the video features to the A9 (hlg and picture profiles) literally every other full frame mirrorless Sony has them like [emoji848]

surely you have them all now? :D

Not quite.

I need a Vopigtlander 50mm f1.2/1.4 and possibly a 85mm and I still need a quality 20mm or wider and I'll also need every one in both old school metal build manual focus and AF.

So, who is getting an A7III?

I probably wont as I'm not too demanding and my A7 does just about everything. But. An electronic shutter would be nice as would a focus joystick. So I might, one day :D

Well well well I could be back to Sony really like the look of the a7 iii ticks all box’s I reckon

Does this mean you are not selling the samyang 35mm this week?
Awwww.... Damn you Sony...

A7III does look like a perfect camera for me but when I consider lens and body costs. Performance is probably similar to D750 but it will probably cost double a similar lens line up and the bodies. 4K video would be nice.

Jonney and Riz will be preordering :p

So the A9 is at 3k used thats 1.5k loss on new, imagine what its going to be when the A7iii is released at less than half the price.
I won't be ordering the Sony A7 III as I believe it won't be anywhere close to the A9 for responsiveness and speed.
Having being spoiled with a truly usable silent shutter with no blackout EVF its something I couldn't live without now.... I always shoot silent.

eye-AF, new sensor, (EVF) and IBIS > D750 :P

Both you and Jonney will preorder, I feel it in my bones.

my flight to Amsterdam has just been cancelled. its not even snowing here yet. had planned on giving it a good test around the canals.

for a 35mm the size is a little off putting for me. i can't see it being a favourite lens but I'm sure it'll come in handy for weddings. i have considered returning it as have a few bits on my shopping list. but does seem to be optically excellent.

You did well there Riz. lasted a whole 6 minutes :D

Lol the A7III has kicked up an awful s***storm on the A7R3 and A9 Facebook pages [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]

This camera looks to be a D3 / D700 esque scenario. I can see ALOT of wedding shooters jumping ship if they were ever contemplating it now

Higher res and 10fps using flash.

That's a big outlay for those times few times. Other than the MP count, the A7iii also has a 10fps mechanical shutter so at over £1000 cheaper than the Riii I think it could be a serious alternative. The A9's remaining standout features are then the blackout-free EVF and 20 electronic fps making it a £2000 premium for 2 features. It's certainly an interesting announcement from Sony and one I'm looking at seriously, although I only currently shoot with one AF lens so I'm not entirely sure I'd gain much in terms of AF overall!

Also the Sony A9 can shoot 1/32000 whereas the A7 III is limited to 1/8000.
