The Amazing Sony A1/A7/A9/APS-C & Anything else welcome Mega Thread!

With a 42mp I was planning on buying the canon 85mm/1.2 which would double as 135mm f2 in crop mode and still retain a lot of resolution. But A7III will do eye-AF with metabones... My first would problems very problematic :D

Has anyone tried 85mm/1.2 on A7RII with metabones in advanced mode for eye-AF?

I've had the combo. whats "advanced mode"?

I reckon this is going to impact sales of the A9 quite a lot.

Dual card slots might win D750 5D type customers
As a D750 owner this new Sony is tempting. Biggest problem for me is the price of the Sony lenses, it would cost far too much to change even if I bought second hand.

PS.

SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We were supposed to be one of the worst hit, so far diddly squat ;)

Any rumours of Sigma or Tamron making a 150-600mm for e-mount?

It looks a great little camera and as Nikon is doing jack s*** to bring out a D760 it will be a very compelling camera for us D750 users who want a bit more. As you say though, dem lenses, ouch.

Yea i have. What do you wanna know bruv

Dunno much about it, any AF issues?

Its an adapter, not as fast as native FE but not bad with certain sigma primes in decent light (not near D750 speed with CAF). Sigmas new stance currently confuses the MC11 continuation for me though. If you're shooting long Id still stick with Canikon though tbh or look at the Sony 100-400 option.

They be thinking oh s***

I don't see Canon and Nikon being as worried as everyone thinks, they have the resources and time to get their mirror less right while continuing to take in revenue from their vast, vast user base... If they were that worried they'd have released them already...

Exactly, let someone else do the legwork. They are still market leaders and taking advantage of that while everyone else irons the issue out.

i think canon will be fine. i think nikon will have issues with getting adapted glass autofocusing to the desired level.

any news on a release date for a7iii?

Basically wondering if eye-AF works at all with A7RII and canon 85mm/1.2.

I have seen plenty of reports and videos with it working on A7RIII but not for if it'll work with A7RII in either green mode or advanced mode.

PS.
This lens isn't as good as the 40mm f1.2 and not as good into the corner 150 pixels as the Sony 35mm f2.8 but it's maybe sharper in the centre area and overall I'm more than happy with it :D

What the sony 24-105 F4 lens like guys.. I not too fussed over a 2.8 as this is a walk about lens when out about... Just working out some lens price and what I need so far I thoug about..

Sony 50mm 1.8 the as they say it pretty sharp and it cheaper than the famous 55 ZA lens
Sony 24-105 F4
Sony 70-200 F4 i think it be unless i can find a used 2.8 at a great price..

That be my kit with the A7iii

Any luck with eye-AF?

a7rii? none. unless they have updated by fw recently that I'm not aware of. I've had very mixed results with adapters. i wouldn't rely on them with the a7rii. you won't get native like performance. some will argue you will.

It's very good but there has been an issue with a more recent batch, never in stock just now but hopefully new ones will be fixed!

I had an early one back in November and thought it was great, ultimately wanted the f2.8.

If you have a busy background that's what you'll get with this lens and maybe with quite a few other 35mm f1.x lenses too. All you have to do to tame it a bit is stop it down. By f2 it's ok, this one is f2.8.

Wow it does hurt your eyes

See above about stopping down.

You should see my Rokkor 35mm at f1.8, it's even more funky... but only with the busier backgrounds.

f1.4 without the busy background.
