Innit but no one does a 1.2 lens heheIt would be interesting to shoot the same session with the 85/1.8 FE and compare the results too.

Majority wasWas everything shot at 1.2?
Was everything shot at 1.2?
Well saidTrust me, if you have this lens, you want to shoot everything at 1.2, if you can. It's why people buy it.
Focus...no.
CA? Everywhere
Sharpness, it's good but no 35Lmk2
Bokeh, ridiculous.
So to get your money's worth, you engineer the shot so that the 1.2 can be used and make it stand out. Sometimes it's probably best shooting at 2.0 or something but you will find away to shoot it at 1.2, somehow.

Exactly. The 1.2L is rare. Cant and wont ever get rid of itThanks but I'm not questioning the relative merits of the 85L, I'm suggesting that it would be interesting to compare the available options (although obviously neither the G Master not the FE shoot at 1.2)

It's my favourite lens everThat's exactly it, if you measure it against other criteria such as focus speed, CA control and even sharpness, I would expect the 85L would come last or 2nd in most places. That doesn't matter though, what matter is the other lenses can't do 1.2 at all. The result is an image that has a 3D effect, that Pop in the image which the other lenses just can't do. It is a very subtle effect, and if you compare them, you might think nothing of its but when the situation arises for the 1.2 really stands out, there is nothing else like it.

Nothing. Never wanted the G master 85mm. If it was 1.2 then maybe.Out of interest, what was it you were hoping to get out of the 85mm G Master if the 85L is so good? Was it purely native AF?

Point is adapted lens setup is fine for portraits. Not so good for sports. It's why the only native zoom I have is the 100-400
Yea it does lolI remember reading the 85L actually focused faster adapted on to Sony bodies that it did on 5D3?
Is there a difference optically between the first two versions this lens and also the old manual FD version of this lens?

Well the sony bodies have ibis so IS not needed hehe but I don't use mine for fast or moving target. Well actually I did yesterday lol and first reaction is all shots seem on focusFor me, I want the Canon 84/1.4L IS, mostly for the IS. At the moment the 85L goes back into the bag in the evening because the focus is too slow for evening dancing, I "make do" with a 50/1.4 instead which is fine since it's normally in a small room so 85 is too long anyway.
Also….gear whore and all that, plus the IS.
You can tell the 85L by the bokeh, due to the electronic, when shooting wide open you get a "cut" on the circle. That's not why I get it though.

Alan, I got the post today from rockycameras, he has only posted one of the two items I ordered
I didn't get that Minolta rokkor 58mm f/1.4![]()
Oh dear... did you get onto him? As I said before, he was very helpful for me and actually swapped a lens for me twice. Hope it works out.
What did you get?
Doesn't sound like it's any better than my Rokkor 50mm f1.2
I've posted this before but any excuse......

Don't panic Raymond, I'm not being serious about my Rokkor being as good as the Canon 85mm.
I have emailed him. Hopefully he'll get back to me tomorrow.

What's your hit rate like? Imagine f1.2 on a dslr can be a bit hit and miss. Much calibration needed?
had a couple of these lenses on a couple of a7rii's and loved it. Unfortunately on both the focus performance fell apart in low light. So went with the g master which is a lovely lens and the continuous eye af is great at 1.4
Just wondered if anyone used/uses the Canon 70-200 f4 L IS with the MC11 on the A7Rii and what their experience was? I was using this combo whilst on holiday and found that the focus was very hit & miss. sometime it would work, others it would hunt for a while first and even worse on a few occasions wouldn't AF at all, just racked back and forward. It would then only regain focus if I turned the camera off and on again. I did ask on a separate thread without any joy so thought Id add in here. I want to make sure it isn't operator error before moving it on and replacing it with the Sony version. Camera was set to AFC
