The Amazing Sony A1/A7/A9/APS-C & Anything else welcome Mega Thread!

Hmmm very odd, just checked the firmware on the MC11 and it was running 1.07, updated to 1.1 to see if that makes a difference. None at all, works fine on my other 2 Sigma lenses (Art 35mm and Sport 120-3300) but not the Canon. I think the Canon may be needing too find a new home :(

I am pretty sure it doesn't stop down the lens when using mc-11 but just to be sure are you trying at f4?

he hasn't replied to my email yet :(
I called but he didn't pick up the phone. I'll call him once again early morning tomorrow.

The lens I got is also not in condition as described. Plenty of dust and marks with sticky aperture (but the lens does work!).
I was thinking even if one of the lenses turned up in somewhat acceptable condition, I'll just keep them both. But so far one is not as good as he said it was and the other hasn't been posted at all!!

Wondering if I should go down the credit card chargeback route :thinking:

unfortunately it seems its not uncommon with this chap, but id give it a week or so before cc chargeback

Yup. I don't think he works every day... or he's very busy doing something. I'd not panic too much and just keep emailing or phoning.

It already took a week to receive the post. I'll give it another week for him to reply I suppose.

it is crap, tbh I would never buy from him. its really common to hear complaints but complements for him are few and far between-dont know if he is dodgy or just a really crap businessman who doesn't give a crap about good service (Alan is the only person I've ever heard say otherwise).

Well it did seem like he posted 1st class signed for. Not sure why royal mail took so long. So I suppose that's not his fault.

I agree apart from Alan I can find a single soul that speaks good of him. May be Alan knows him personally :D
Think its a mixture being a really bad businessman and being dodgy in the sense he has no intention of improving himself.

Yup, in hindsight I should have just stuck with Sony and waited for the Sony A9 :D
Saying that I got good money for the Sony and Fuji gear with a very minimal loss.
Where have you been hiding?

I've been head deep in books, just finished all my Uni coursework, so finally free to crack on and get out with the camera! You're local ish to me I think as well? I'm from North Chesterfield?

Incoming pics from Copenhagen coming soon on this thread. The a9 colour palette is very similar to canon now with more pop on its colours. But Stil did some tweaking on it hehe.

The battery life is astonishing even wit Bluetooth GPS tagging enabled. I never ran out of a single battery. The worse it got was 30 percent left at the end of shooting all day?

Also the colour science for low light shooting a street just light up with rubbish street lamps turned out amazingly

I am too liking the colour output from the Sony A9, are you doing much post-processing in Lightroom? I have never been a aggressive post-processing guy, mainly doing very minor exposure corrections and slight cropping within Lightroom.
It's best to always try to get it right in-camera, the EVF is just super so tend to get great images straight out of the camera most of the time.
As for the battery life, it is extremely underrated, Sony say its 2.2x longer than the Sony A7RII batteries, it seems way more than 5x to me!
Can't wait to see the images :D

No I don't know him :D Maybe it's because I have rather a relaxed attitude and lowish expectations :D

I've bought low cost manual lenses from him several times without a problem other than him being a bit slooow if you try to contact him. I never thought of him as being actually dishonest but rather just a one man band shipping out lenses and / or checking emails once or twice a week. I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that he acquires kit from wherever he gets it from and ships it out again untouched and I therefore don't think I'd buy any complex high value items off him but a £10-30 lens is maybe worth the gamble and so far I haven't been burned and I hope that you aren't either.

moments after taking this shot below and filming the scene using my go pro a random bloke approached me and pointed my go pro down and told me no pics or video allowed. Basically there is an area in copenhagen that is independent from the Government > http://www.visitcopenhagen.com/copenhagen/culture/alternative-christiania weed/other assorted drugs are legal there and i was entering a zone with merchants selling them lol.
