But how many Sony users is there I guess they all out enjoying their kit

Had a play with the A7II today. I was rather impressed with it to be honest and can't see why there seems to be as much hate for the A7 series as their is unless it's blind jealousy :D
So after 15minutes (I wish I had longer) I must say that Sony really have upped their game from when I used the older SLR stuff alpha300series was it? Focus speed seemed to be "OK" but ignoring that slight slowness all I can say is wow! For portrait work or landscapes I'd image it's an absolute gem! You'll not be getting me swapping from my Fuji any time soon but the tech it packs in for the price really is quite something when you consider how much a 5D or an D810 is.. yes I know you get more with the others but they're tanks in comparison. I don't think anything fast moving like motorsport would work with it as the AF seemed to lose its self with my crued panning but I could be wrong.
How do you guys find the battery life and lens range these days? I'm trying to get my dad to buy Fuji (he can borrow lenses that way rather than buy loads) or maybe even look at the Sony stuff as he seems adamant that m43 is the way forward but given how big some of the m43 stuff is now I'm not convinced.

The SLR style MFT bodies are about the same size as an A7 but the RF style cameras are a little smaller as are some of the lenses. With MFT you get more savings if you're carrying more than a body with a lens attached as a body and three of four compact lenses still represent a significant bulk and weight saving over your average DSLR+one lens attached. The latest MFT cameras are also incredibly fast and I can't see any FF camera matching them for responsiveness anytime soon. MFT can't match A7 image quality though at the higher ISO's or when pixel peeping.

Focus and general responsiveness wise I think that my A7 is about the same as any DSLR I've owned but I haven't had a DSLR for years now. The battery life is ok for me, I normally carry a spare when I take my A7 out and I've never flattened two in a day.

Hate wise... God knows. People need to grow up or if they can't just step aside and shut up. I read a review the other day and the twit stated that the Sony he was reviewing felt like a fast computer. I just don't get why people persist with this. My A7 is no more and no less like a computer than any other digital camera I've owned. The menus are no different, the set up and customisation process is just the same so I just don't get it.

Didn't think e mount fit? Or just doesn't auto focus?

So I can take E and FE what difference oops

Pretty sure the mount is exactly the same, just Sony define E as for crop cameras and FE for FF in ther own lens line up.
Other manufacturers might call a FF lens E-Mount though, just need to read description to see if is made for FF.
If it is it will be fine on your A7 etc

Though so but we can't have crop lens

Tonight was my first night with Laowa 105mm f/2 STF manual lens (E-mount)

Magical.
Quite challenging lens I could say and very very shallow DOF at f/2
The focus ring is little bit stiff - may be because it is new ( I received it today )
The first few photos were disaster :)
But I managed to a get a few good ones.
Sony A7R II: f/2, ISO 2500, 1/60 (thanks to the IBIS)
Here example (no flash, handheld and only natural light, after sunset):

Love it and maybe 20 years ago had a Ducati few changes but seeing this great memory thanks for sharing. Never heard of the brand of the lens but looks really good

Alan you could always build your own PinHole camera....Here is a link to the advanced version with a manual drive http://www.matchboxpinhole.com/winder.html but I'm sure with your background you could motorise it <LOL>
Ha! I was given a DIY kit as a present sometime ago and I haven't got around to making it yet :D

When I build it I'm going to stencil A9 on it to wind Riz up :D

Not that he'd believe I'd put my hand in my pocket to buy and A9 :D

You told the thread your arms are a bit short for reaching the deep pockets ;)

So we all know woof woof will be digging deep and going on a massive black Friday binge. Anyone else getting any new toys?
After lugging my gear into the city this morning I'm thinking a roller bag of some sort would be beneficial.
