The Amazing Sony A1/A7/A9/APS-C & Anything else welcome Mega Thread!

Notice Rizvan like being in here.. He be keeping the sony at this stage

Fair enough. I've always made my kit earn its' value back :0)
Only thing I ever put out and donated that was trials and motocross news they used one of my motocross shots it's about the challenge and trying new techniques for me I doubt I would have the patience for customers especially wedding parties borders my idea of purgatory admire those who do it though :)

So been reading what's the fuss about

http://cameradecision.com/compare/Sony-Alpha-7-II-vs-Fujifilm-X-T2

Confirm Sony good for me Fuji bit lighter the looks like a grip needed for getting higher fps and for me in built stabilisation takes a good plus point as well as a huge range of older legacy glass available that still takes good stability into account

FF preference over crop big plus I have it already so not taking depreciation on present camera, probably mk3 will address a fair few issues such as af speed and perhaps faster fps though other than perhaps motor sport don't see that as a big issue :)

WARNING.
A Sweeping Generalisation follows...

Just about anything is good enough these days.

I tend to concentrate more on what I want and specification with quality just being in the mix somewhere along the line.

I want a decent camera so I could buy just about anything from MFT and up.
I want it to be compact and unobtrusive so I should buy a mirroless camera as DSLR's are too big and fat and attention grabbing.
I also want to use old lenses so maybe I should maybe buy an A7 as it's just about the only FF camera I can easily use old lenses on.
Well, actually, thinking about it... I want really good quality so I should buy a camera with a larger sensor. Maybe I should buy an A7.
So I bought an A7.

One thing I have noticed is the Fuji thread is far busier than this thread strange considering a fair few have Sony :)

We do seem to have a smaller A7 following or at least a smaller number who post in this thread.

Maybe it's us :( Maybe we should smarten ourselves up, shower more often and make sure our socks are nice and fresh.

Is this a post from 2013? :D

It's finally happened. Full electronic control of Nikon AF-I and AF-S lenses on Sony bodies. :D

Very interesting comparison there hmm

I got to the part where the site gave the A7II a better rating for sports compared to the Fuji XT-2 and just rolled my eyes :D lol
Did you try your Sony cameras for sport Riz? I have not tried mine though I think as a hobby I could get some good results at least as good as the Canon 5D2 I agree it's not cutting edge but it's FF and in many regards it is capable of blowing the socks of many crop cameras :)

Just adding Alan with new electronics it's likely that it will last many years and unless you need new features from the body you have little reason for changing

Swapping bodies every few months is not cheap they take a big depreciation hit when new models are launched sell for far less. Just think folks the old body sells why do they sell because they are still really good kit. I reckon it's about do you absolutely need the newest feature if so update change brands as much as you fancy I would lay odds the main easy see feature that will change is ISO noise. :)

Darn will have a good wash of my socks today ;)

My visit on the Fuji thread noted more images and people seem excited about how they captured them on the tech side it seemed much the same :)

I didn't need to try it for sports, having mastered tracking fast planes with the original Sony A7 any camera is good enough if you have the technique locked down :D
I guess a lot of people including myself get stuck up on reviews and technical spec's than the actual end output..... :)

Good for me Riz no issues I upgraded for a 5k iMac love the screen image Lightroom files in develop mode is poor I had more performance years ago on windows xp 32bit so we all know specs lie. Hello vw exhaust figures give credit they sold loads of cars :)

Lightroom is just slow and poor no matter what computer you put at it. It's like owning a bugatti (6 core 4ghz i7 /32gb ram) and driving it in a 20mp road (lightroom)

Okay Andrew in the Fuji thread spirit :)

I noticed on Flickr 2 things that really had me think how did Andrew decide on 3200 ISO and a shutter speed of 1 second made me think tripod for shutter if so why one second and how did you get the starburst on the street lights filter or processing :)

woof woof yep I know this is not a critique thread but I for one would always like learning how the kit was used:)
