Will get both of mine done later tonight.
Anybody know if you can change file output names in-body to avoid duplicate file names from the same bodies? :)
Somebody mentioned changing one body to AdobeRGB and the other to sRGB.

I did this by mistake on my single body. Toolbox #5 I think it was new folder or file number can't remember. Suddenly the files all started getting an underscore in front so went from DSCnnnn.ARW to _DSCnnn.ARW. Is this what you want to do on one body to differentiate the files?

If and I mean if canon 5dx has same performing sensor as a a7r2 I may sell up all my Sony gear.

What do you find so limiting about the 5D3 sensor? I know its great to have more DR but Ive not seen any of your pics really require such big pushes.

about a stop better on the a7r2 and the DR i use a lot. granted last couple of pics dont show it but others do.

trust me fella. DR and ISO i need for landscape and low light

I know I've said this many times but I'll say it again :D The big appeal in mirrorless for me was originally to get better than compact camera performance in a much smaller than DSLR package and that's why I bought into MFT when the GF1 first came out. In fact just as I did with the A7 I bought one unseen before they hit the shops. To me moving to MFT was just getting back the bulk of the quality cameras I used to have rather than the huge, bloated DSLR+Lens package which for me is too big, to obtrusive and too attention grabbing.

The A7 series gives me DSLR image quality, or actually much better as I was a Canon user, but with a body and lens combination that's the size of cameras before they got free access to the fridge 24/7 and became so overweight. To me CSC make the most sense when used with compact to mid sized lenses and to be honest I'm not too interested if they're suitable for "pro's" or not.

DR - as per previous post
ISO - theres not much difference, even at ISO12800.

But no one shoots at ISO 12800 all day. You going to claim there's no difference at lower ISO's? :D

I know my Canon kit was old tech but even MFT gave my 20D and 5D a fright, try boosting an image from one of those cameras and things go wrong PDQ and from what I've read Canon are still lagging behind the best.

Yes, many times.

Id bet he means noise as in high ISO and btw at lower ISO they are also pretty much identical. What point are you trying to make?

Yes, your Canon kit was old, dont compare it to todays cameras.

Give it time, you have to remember Sony is fairly new to the Pro segment. Nikon & Canon have been around far longer and as time to develop etc.
Also everybody knows Matt bashes Sony at every given opportunity. ;)

Sony sensors lead the market, hence why they supply to other manufacturers.
Canon has always been behind in sensor tech, Nikon is a head of them also.

Actually he didnt, he was very positive about the Sony A7 cameras.

Suppose, Sony will crack the support side of the business eventually but it's not going to happen over night. Not sure but I didn't think Pro Imaging Support was available in Australia?
This is one of the reasons why Pro Imaging Support hasn't been released for the UK, Sony has a lot of leg work to be able to offer a Pro Service.
It's available in Germany and USA.
At the moment it's not a high priority for me so I don't be ditching Sony based on Matt's video :)

Yes, I've tried to make this point many times and I do wish that more people would do as I do if only for their own piece of mind... Balance the plus and minus points and make an informed decision to live with the limitations for the positives (as I do with MFT and Sony) or just give up and buy a big fat Nikon or a Fuji if one of those suits you better rather than just dwell on the negatives.

I do wonder why this thread so often goes down the negativity and knocking route. If the A7 series doesn't suit you move on. Honesty, there can't be many threads on this forum that contain so many negative posts from the Nikon/Fuji (and even Canon?) is better brigade. I just don't understand why people feel the need to constantly post negative comments you just don't see all this often in the other threads. A camera system is just a tool, if the plus and minus point equations don't work for you just move on.

My point about DR/ISO is that you chose the one situation in which the Canon can compete, mega high ISO setting at which differences are meh but anyone with any objectivity will probably accept that Canon are behind the curve these days at the lower to mid or even high settings at which most people spend most time.

Ive been reading about Sony support in the US, sounds very poor. Germany, dunno.

Theres no reason to ditch if the system does what you need.

Not good, Sony do need to try and spread the R&D / funds more equally.... slow down body development and divert some funds to:-

Firmware / GUI / Menu and feature improvements
Sony Pro Imaging improvements
Sony FE mid-low range lens collections

:)

No point in making that specific point so many times. Its not negativity or knocking, its a discussion, someone posted a video, why do you feel so offended when someone starts discussing things about the system? We all know that no system is perfect.

The ISO looks identical through the range up till ISO 12800. I chose to reference hi iso because I know thats what the OP was talking about. I never said his Canon was better just that they are very similar.

I agree, no system is perfect.
Even a hardcore Sony guru like me knows Canon & Nikon have advantages and Sony are far from perfect, I miss some things about my old Nikon days etc :)

I'm not offended, just bored by the repetitive negativity that doesn't seem to be so common in some of the other marque threads which seem to be more friendly... and fun... to the point that I don't read this thread as much as others now. I find the negativity boring. I know this is a gear forum and I don't want to read a total fanboy love in but I am bored by the knocking and I do wonder why some focus so much and seem so polerised.

Maybe I just don't have the fanboy and GAS genes that some others seem to have.

As for my repetitive point making... I'm just being polite and the message in a blunter form is that we should all think about our priorities and if the system doesn't work for you just move on.

Yes, it seems the fanboys really cant take any "negativity".

You keep calling me a fanboy. You're wrong, I just choose my gear a bit more carefully and balance the plus and negative points. I couldn't give a toss who makes my gear.

Someone once gave me a little analogy that I remembered and it went like this... Your blanket might have a few holes in it but does it still work as a blanket?

Only because you imply I am :D

I dont either, thats why I buy any brand and enjoy certain things each provide when I use each system.

Mmmm positivity and negativity is ok. Lol :)
With the GAS thirst I have for Sony I will soon go from fanboy to Sony ambassador lol Mmm
Still got room in my case for more Sony items lol mmmmm what next mmmm G Master(s)???
